Ok silly question mostly directed toward the Canadian filers. In our packet it says to return the signed packet 3...do we need to provide the documents right away as well? Given that from the time we will send the document to the time we will have our interview the letter of intent to marry might be outdated it is weird. It also doesn't make mention of sending the documents on the checklist through email, only the acknowledgement that we have them and will bring them in for the interview.

I haven't gotten to that step yet, but from reading other threads, it is just the checklist you send back, you do not need to send the items at that time. It's just for you to know that you must bring all those items to the interview.

You need to look at your hard copy NOA1 paper.  In the top right there will be a box called "NOTICE DATE".   That date is your NOA1.

Sorry to bother again, we had a problem with the mailing address, we changed the address because in the first one we had problems receiving mail. So we called USCIS to ask for a change of address and to request them to resend again the letter.

In the letter we received it say:

Received Date: 1st Feb

Notice Date: 10th Mach

Is our NOA1 - 10th of Mach, even if they received our case the 1st of Feb? I'm freaking out right now

Yes, when you changed your address you got put in the back of the line again with the May filers.....  Actually just kidding :P  That's just a notice of change of address it seems, I doubt it has merit as a NOA1 in terms of your place in line.  Call USCIS and ask what date your original notice of action was dated.  It is in their system.

From what I see when I scan my case number, the USCIS goes by the receipt date. My case number is associated with the receipt date (Feb 01). The paper you receive in the mail has this date as well as the Notice date. This is the date the paper (notice) was printed out (it was mailed Feb 7.). My notice date was Feb 03.  I am following the receipt date with USCIS. On Visajourney, people say to enter the notice date (this doesn't make sense to me). It is confusing.

Hello guys. I need your help about our case. We got approved already last April 27, 2017 and now our case is already here in Manila since May 2,2017. Today my fiance received an email informing us that we can now schedule for an interview which we will after paying this friday. But the thing is the email notification that my fiance received contains wrong name in other words not my name and not my case number. But the subject is our correct Manila case number. What should we do? We are about to pat this Friday but were afraid it might be wrong info. My fiance in San Diego CA receives the hard copy from the nvc with our MNLcase number already but this email that we got today gave us confusion. Thanks Guys!

I'd like to give everyone an update on my case.....

If you remember last Friday I called the NVC just to find out that my fiance's Date of Birth was entered wrong into the system by the USCIS.  So because of this I was not able to pass the security questions, and furthermore not able to track my case.  The NVC agent told me to send an email to the NVC with the passport and birth certificate of my fiance and they will forward it to the US Embassy in Bogota, Colombia to have it fixed before it is processed by the Embassy.

Today I called back the NVC to see if the petition has left the NVC, but also to see if my email and info made it to the right hands.  After a half hour wait I finally made it through to an agent.  She asked for the receipt number, then my fiance's name, then my fiances birthday.  I responded with the correct birthday, and after I said her birthday, I started to say that I called Friday and tell her the story but she cut me off and asked for petitioners name.  So I said my name.  And then she started talking about my petition and saying it was received and I have a case number assigned.  She said a case number was assigned on Friday and on Monday the case was touched again.

So what that tells me is that they were able to fix the birthdate before sending the petition to the Embassy because I obviously passed the security question this time with a correct DOB.  And since I called Friday and found out about the issue, and then sent the email with info that same Friday, and the NVC agent today said the case was touched again on Monday, it seems they fixed the issue on Monday with the info from my email.  So today I was able to get my Case Number from the NVC :)  :)  :)  :)

Last thing I'll say is about the NVC receive date.  The NVC agent today, when I asked when the petition was received, says she doesn't have that information.  All she had was when the NVC assigned the Case Number which was Friday.  So, the receive date on the VJ timelines seems to be a complete guess?  I don't know how you can get that information?  Because when I called Friday and found out about the DOB error, the agent would not tell me anything specific about my case.  When I asked him has my petition at least arrived yet?  And his answer was "Oh, it's definitely here."   I took that as my receive date was Friday then.  Since I called literally the day before, on Thursday, and they said they DID NOT receive the petition yet?  But then Friday the guy said "Oh, it's definitely here".... he knew that it was there because the Case Number was assigned, that is why it was a "DEFINITELY".  Which now I'm figuring out thanks to my call today and the agent today said the case number was assigned Friday.

So I don;'t know how you can track the NVC receive date???

Anyway.... SORRY for wall of text.  It's probably really hard to follow too, my apologies.  But I'm happy that I can at least track now :)

You're best bet is to find info specific to your consulate as it varies from consulate to consulate.

For me, I schedule interview first because to get the Medical scheduled you need to have a interview visa appointment already scheduled.  So you schedule interview, then schedule your physical medical appt BEFORE interview appt.

Call tomorrow.

Your NOA2 is 2 days after mine.  So if your Case Number gets assigned two days after me (I'm considering Case Number assigned and NVC receive date as same date, because I think that is how the NVC see's it) that means you will have a receive date and Case number assigned today.  So I'd definitely call back tomorrow.  TO be safe, tomorrow evening.
