I wanted to ask you guys if anyone of you ever received a visit from USCIS people to check if you live together and if it's a normal procedure after you get married. We're leaving together and I'm curious about this. Thank you!

Yes, it has happened to some people here.

It can happen when fraud is suspected, and it's also my personal belief that some cases are randomly chosen for home visits just because.

I wouldn't say it is "normal", it doesn't happen to the vast majority of people, especially with a K1 entry. But yes, it has happened- usually when they are already suspicious of you.

Not me personally, but i know it happened to at least two couples that i know very well. The practice is more prevalent on the West coast and the South.

Yes, lately is happening with more frequency. I know a couple that USCIS visited them and walk thru the apartment in NYC.

Does is happen if you have some red flags? Even for k1 applicants who went through the whole process smoothly?

For as long as our case took (is taking...still waiting for the arrival of 10 year GC the IO said hubby would get in 10 days) I would have said, "Welcome, come in, here is our bedroom, my clothes, hubby's clothes, here are our toothbrushes in the bathroom and here is the kitchen where we eat. Coffee?"

It can happen with or without red flags and regardless of type of entry.

GENERALLY though, it's more likely to happen if you had red flags, regardless of entry.

At the end of the day if you came in K1, and had no red flags, if USCIS comes knocking at your door and you've done nothing wrong, it's nothing more than having some bad luck and being picked at random for a home visit. Can't do anything about that.

Obviously, it hasn't been a problem for USCIS. If they scheduled this then they might as well not come. they usually do this when fraud is suspected and you are talking about scheduling?

Well yeah thus why I said I'm guessing they don't lol. Must suck for couples who work different schedules if they're both required to be home for it but I guess they more look for evidence of two people living there. My husband and I both work different hours and different days of the week so they'd be more likely to win the lottery than find us both home at the same time during business hours or weekends.
