It will have little to no effect on how your case is processed by USCIS. Some people believe that pregnancy will speed up the processing for your case. It will not. So review the timelines for YOUR embassy. Some places it normally takes a long time to get an interview or to get through AP. Other places it's a snap if you don't have red flags. But their experiences cannot accurately predict yours. I've heard of pregnant women who get really stressed while waiting to unite with their fiancé (both as petitioner and beneficiary). This process (even when it's completed quickly) is stressful and you should consider whether you are willing to have your partner miss part or all of the pregnancy and if you're okay going it alone. The other thing to consider if you're the beneficiary is timing for travel and medical bills. If you're too far along (I was thinking 36 weeks but I honestly don't know ?) there's a chance that an airline won't take you. The other complication is paying for the birth once you get to America. At my job, it would take at least a month (from wedding to covered) to get on my insurance plan as my spouse. So be sure to calculate that into your timeline to ensure you don't get stuck paying for the hospital bill. The really great thing about having a baby close to your arrival is you will have three months when you can't work and will be able to spend it all with your new little one.

I'm not saying don't do it. And I'm impressed that you're doing research before getting pregnant about the effects. It's just there are so many things to consider with immigration and/or pregnancy that mixing the two is not something I'd personally do. However there are lots of women who are pregnant during some part of the process. Hopefully a couple of them will speak up. You might also want to search for related threads as I know there have been a few.

What do you mean by "unknown" pregnancy?

In theory, pregnancy shouldn't have a negative effect on the K1 process, but there are a few things to keep in mind.

- At a certain stage in pregnancy, you will not be able to board a plane to travel to the US

- Do you plan to give birth in the US (expensive and potentially without health insurance?) or PI?

- During the visa medical, you will not be exempt from the chest Xray. Although most likely not an issue (you will be given a shield to cover the belly), most moms would choose not to expose their unborn baby to radiation

- There are also some vaccines you can not take during (or when planning) a pregnancy. You will be given a waiver for these though.

Good luck!

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

I'm pregnant due December but I'm already married and in my husband country still doing dcf(filed at US embassy) which not every country and embassy allows it but it's the fastest route. For our case none of this has been easy, we wanted our daughter to be born in America no matter what. Thankfully we have a interview coming up(we filed the petition in aug ,approved sept, interview Oct) but not every case is this fast and each one is different. Yes some airlines won't let you fly at a certain point in your pregnancy and I am not looking forward to that flight at all being in my 3rd trimester even know it's 4 hours for a direct flight, I've had a extremely hard pregnancy as well. I love my family that we started in DR and not once will I ever regret getting pregnant but we definitely did cut it close and now we have a lot to do regarding our daughter in a short amount of time (preparing for her arrival) and it's definitely stressful just dealing with the immigration process I thinks being pregnant with all the hormones makes it more difficult.

Also in case you do get pregnant delta has the least restrictions during pregnancy

I love my husband ?‍?‍?

To highlight what JR said, make sure you have a plan in place for health insurance. You won't be able to add her on to your health insurance until after you are married. Paying out of pocket for a birth would be very expensive.

Why not just wait to have the baby after the process, it is stressful enough for both that a pregnancy only complicates it. Also the time before kids is the best chance at establishing a bond as a couple, if you become pregnant you come here and give birth and have little or no time to establish your relationship. I want a kid with my fiancé too, but I think it's important to become us before we introduce babies into the equation.

If you're TRYING to conceive, I'd wait until you've had your interview, frankly. Nothing like having morning sickness and going through the K-1 process, not to mention moving to the US. And yes, health insurance is a big thing.... You're looking at $13K for a simple, uncomplicated, natural birth without insurance.

From a variety of perspectives, it might be better to wait. If your visa gets delayed, CRBA and passport just adds extra issues and you might not be able to have your partner there for the birth. Also, something to consider is whether you are healthy and have all your vaccines up to date before conceiving? Have you had a TB screen recently? Have you been keeping up good nutrition and folic acid levels for the past several months?

Like others have said, getting some couple time together before a baby might be nice too and give your relationship a good and strong start.

This depends on the employer. I was able to get Joan on my insurance as a domestic partner before we were married...then she got her EAD and a good job with her own benefits.

Was that recently? (2016)? I'm guessing based on your timeline it was in the good old days before the healthcare reform act was in full swing. If it was prior to 2014 then it was possible, but after 2014 changes in the health care reform have changed things. Now you can only make changes to your plan during open enrollment or with a qualifying life changing event ( marriage, divorce, etc).

I just checked. My employer apparently still allows for a new "Domestic partnership" as a "qualifying event' for coverage. Nothing changed. It really depends on the employer/coverage.

Years ago, before Obamacare, there was a lady posting here who assured us the she could add her Parents to her cover. I think at little cost.

Sounded really weird but never say never.

One of the important issues now is whether this will be a subsidised cost or not. May be a good deal, may not be.
