Honestly, I've been getting ready for him to arrive since we submitted lol. I've cleared dresser and closet space, got him a house key and US cell phone (and set it up with close family numbers and pictures of his family and us when I was visiting him in Morocco), cleaned the house, setup a profile for him on Netflix and the computer, got him his own stocking for the holidays and his first tree ornament, I've found a local halal butcher (two actually) and a store that sells items from Morocco and the middle east that he might like, this weekend I've been baking goodies for him and the family (over 300 cookies so far and 5 large containers of fudge), and we have a big family Christmas event on Saturday where he'll get to meet my family in-person and not just through Skype.

I also asked other members of VJ for ideas and got some good ones like making maps of the local area, showing him where the library is so he can read if he wants, taking him shopping after he gets in to get some of his favorite foods and get him out of the house, and setup Skype times with his family so they can talk often.

I did all this too!! it really helped when he got here to have space in my closet and dresser :) we also went out and bought him a car after getting married on Saturday.

sign me up for that fudge, please!!

thank you!

He paid, he had a nice sports car that he sold in the UK and a Jeep he restored and sold to his uncle, so he had a bit of cash that we transferred. We used Transferwise, it was super simple and super cheap. I've been paying for all the little things since he moved though, we can't add him to my credit union until he gets an SSN.

Congrats on your fiancé arriving so soon!

I've been teasing habibi about making him fat for months. He's a very fit guy, but he loves sweets too LOL.

Congrats on getting married!! That's so wonderful. :) We're tying the knot of Dec 30th. One year after he proposed.

Getting the SSN is really important to get anything else done like adding him to your bank account. I'm working on that paperwork so we can submit as soon as we have his POE info. It's also good to have for when you add him to your insurance and such.

We aren't buying my fiancé a car yet (he needs to pass the drivers test here first because they don't require one for a motorcycle in Morocco and that's all he's ever had), but I did get him a nice bike and he loves to cycle.

Habibi arrives in Seattle on Thursday morning!!

He picked up his visa on the 7th of Dec after nearly a month in AP. And he leaves Morocco on Wednesday! So so so excited!!

Whatever you do don't take him to the Space Needle at night. I took my fiancé there in November as his first thing to do in America and we saw at least 5 rats near the entrance to the monterail and Space Needle who were not scared of people at all! It was kinda funny because I've been to Ukraine 6 times and never seen a rat then he comes tom"clean" America and they're all over the place!

CONGRATULATIONS!!

THANK YOU!!

Yay! 1 Visa more! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeaaaaah!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THANK YOU!!

You're welcome to stop by for cookies :) When I bake (or do pretty much anything) I tend to go overboard.

So far I have holiday chocolate chip cookies (with green and red chocolate chips), peanut butter cookies, cherry bonbons, peppermint pinwheels, peppermint thumbprints with heresy's hugs in the center, and regular thumbprint cookies with hugs in the center. Plus, regular fudge and peanut butter fudge.

I will want to make almond log cookies, sugar cookies, peppermint brownie cookies, and Monster cookies (these cookies have a little bit of everything in them like peanut butter, chocolate chips, marshmallows, nuts, M&Ms, etc..). There will most likely be another 300 cookies before I'm done LOL.

I am giving some cookies to friends and family, but I also have two teenage boys at home.

Is there a bakery in your future maybe? I would love to visit...

I remember one evening/night, I was walking from Broadway along E Roy St toward Harvard Ave, and I heard this scurrying sound... I looked over, and something the size of a squirrel was running up a tree. It was not a squirrel. It was a rat. The tail was scaly instead of fluffy... and nose was pointy. *shudders* BUT that's the only time I ever saw a rat in Seattle... unless you count some of the iffy dates I went on... >.>

*removes her "off-topic" hat*

Edit: I lived in Seattle (on Cap Hill) for 7 years.

Congrats everyone!!! I feel so out of the loop! I am sorry I missed so many updates. Work has been ridiculously busy and planning the wedding for after we get our approval (hopefully) has taken a lot of time as well!!!

Jon goes in for his medical tomorrow. Thankfully the railway strikes are not affecting his journey, but it did make me worry until I looked EVERYTHING up about the strike... I swear the UK trains strike just about every other month I feel like!!!! Thankfully it doesn't affect me directly, but that has to be annoying for all the people in the UK!!!!

I head out for my trip to see Jon next Thursday... long overnight flight! Hopefully I can sleep!!! Our interview will be right around the corner!!!

I hope everyone who has gotten in the US has a smooth AOS process!!! Keep us updated!

Kat & Jon

I am Kat the US Citizen
