My advice would be to start looking for a new job, and negotiate a start date of Monday October 3rd, which is the Monday after the 90 day mark of you application (September 26th) was received. If the date they received it is different, adjust accordingly. This will give a very high probability of obtaining your EAD card before your start date.

If you have not received your EAD approval by 75 days (September 11th), put in a case inquiry to verify if its been assigned to an immigration officer. If you have a job offer on hand by that time (or after without your EAD), call and put in an expedite request stating financial loss to yourself and provide them with a copy of your job offer.

They wont accept a request to expedite before 75 days have passed, and I wouldn't try to use an expedite request to start working before the 90 day mark since the IO might think that its your own fault for not planning, and your new employer might get annoyed to.

So go ahead and start looking for a job, and relax for another two weeks before you start taking action.

Thank you so much for your detail explanation! SO glad I can finally do something here in the states!

So what you means is it is better to use the expedite request to start working after the 90days mark instead of the 75 days mark?

In my opinion, yes.

Your mileage might vary, but I think the immigration officer would be more sympathetic to help ensure you are able to work after the statutory processing time has passed. They usually are not very fond of self created emergencies, such as accepting employment before you have a reasonable expectation of getting your work authorization.

You also will not be able to create an expedite request unless 75 days have passed.

I sent my package last Friday, received a notification my package was delivered today. :goofy:

May I ask, did USCIS give you any issues when you just did a Walk In? Reason I ask, I'm fretting not being able to take off few hours to take my husband when his appointment is issued

So planning on doing a walk in IF I can get appointment day off or at least a few hours off

Not even have feet wet in the AOS process and having panic fits already.

Oh and where did you go for your appointment? Want to map it out.

Thanks

We got the combo card one day after the notice.

If you have a myUSPS account, you can actually see and track the package there.

Not if you don't have a tracking #, right? Or is there something on the approval notice you can track it with?

That is the sweet part of myUSPS, you register with your home address, and then it notifies you if some package is sent to your address.

You have a dashboard of all the packages, even if you did not receive a tracking number. You can know the tracking number from the dashboard.

Needless to say, this works only for USPS packages.

May I ask when you submitted the SR online did you do it yourself through the service request website? Or did you call to have the officer did it for you? I called the other day and they said their system was down and gave me the website to do it myself. But a day later i got an email saying that it's within the appropriate timeline (my case receive date is 7/25 though as stated on the letter).
