Form I-912 rejected

Last month we filed form 751 along with the 912 fee waiver, and just heard back that out fee waiver application was rejected. Neither of us are currently working and thus have no income so, in my mind, we should have been eligible based on income alone. We don't receive any public benefits and on the form I listed about 60k usd in liquid assets.

Does anyone have any experience with this if I should appeal this or just shut up and pay the fee?

It's not just income, you have a lot of money ($60K) so of course you should pay the fee yourself...

I would try working at a temp agency that pays you weekly, so you can pay the fees.

As I stated, we filed this form based on income (or rather lack of income). According to the USCIS instructions, an applicant is eligible to receive the fee waiver if their income is less than 150% of the federal poverty line. We have zero income so I thought we should qualify based on this.

Not that it is at all relevant but I don't want to pay the fee because we are both unemployed without good job prospects. We both worked in the same industry which is in a major recession at the moment.

It's not just income, you have a lot of money ($60K) so of course you should pay the fee yourself...

But it is just income. The way I read the form instructions, a person is eligible if they meet any of the conditions, not all of the conditions.

Or they should just pay the fee upfront. What bothered me was the "should I appeal or shut up and pay from the funds I obviously have". I would have preferred to hold on to my $1000+ for the AOS, $590 for the ROC, and $680 for Citizenship. And my husband has $60K+ just in student loan debt!

I don't get the angry replies I'm getting. I was simply asking for honest advice from someone who had successfully filed this form before.

Be glad you are not living here then! ... There are NO benefits for people who own over $1,600. If you have car, house or whatever that needs to be sold and you need to live for that money first before you can get anything. You have $60K and will not pay a small fee for your ROC so you can stay and live in the US. I mean that waiver is for people who really can't pay the fee, you can so why should it be payed for you, I don't get the way you are dealing with this.

Pay the fee. Fee waivers are for indigent individuals who could otherwise not file applications; you, on the other hand, clearly can.

Fee waivers are not for people with $60,000 in liquid assets. Your I-912 was correctly denied.
