Been a while! Was just checking to see if anyone had received anything from USCIS. Crossing my fingers for no RFEs! Anyway, I saw some discussion about travel. My wife, who is the one filing for removal of conditions, and I just got back from England. We flew into JFK, and the process wasn't too bad. With the expired GC, extension letter and 551 stamp in her passport, all we had to do was go into the back room for extra processing. Not a huge deal, but a little annoying because it takes so long for USCIS to process our paperwork.

Here's to a few more months!

Wow - they made you go to secondary? Good to know. We'll probably have three border entries before the 10-year card arrives. The first one will be at the Canadian border in October....then two at JFK during the spring.

Now I'm wondering if my spouse will have trouble getting INTO Canada. She's an Australian citizen, and normally would need an eTA if flying, but since she's an LPR (albeit with an expired Green Card), she is supposedly able to enter Canada on her Green Card alone....

I'm not worried about her re-entry into the US - but hope the Canadian Border Patrol knows what they are doing!

I dont know about RFE's but two filers from March 2016 got their approvals already. So probably next month they will start approving April filers at CSC. But for us at Vermont its going to be a really long wait unfortunately. :-(

So it certainly seems like JFK is all about the secondary processing. My esposo has not experienced that at ATL.

Sukie- as far as going into Canada I'm sure she'll be alright. I went to Brazil for the Olympics and visas were waived for US citizens. At the border the immigration officer asked me "do you have a visa?" I was like "no..." And in my broken "portañol" explained that with the Olympics I didn't need one. And she was like "yeah, you're right" like she had known all along and was testing me. Who knows. Anyways, my point is I can almost guarantee it won't be the first time someone enters on an expired GC without a visa. Just bring proper documents and prepare to answer questions!

My wife has flown into JFK with the letter, no secondary. But we don't have an i551 stamp, maybe that is why RemoteControl's wife got secondary? For us there was no processing at all; scan the green card, scan the passport, look at the letter, and onto baggage.

We also went to Canada with the letter. There were no issues going into Canada, and no issues on the return to the USA. I think she's used the letter several times now and every time the border agent has looked at it, and processed her just like with the green card.

If anything, it's been more a question to us of whether the airline staff process the checkin understand the letter, rather than the border agents.

Wow - they made you go to secondary? Good to know. We'll probably have three border entries before the 10-year card arrives. The first one will be at the Canadian border in October....then two at JFK during the spring.

Now I'm wondering if my spouse will have trouble getting INTO Canada. She's an Australian citizen, and normally would need an eTA if flying, but since she's an LPR (albeit with an expired Green Card), she is supposedly able to enter Canada on her Green Card alone....

I'm not worried about her re-entry into the US - but hope the Canadian Border Patrol knows what they are doing!

Should be fine with the passport. I went to Niagara with my parents last month and we were going to walk over for an hour or so, but I forgot my passport. Internet research said should've been fine with the GC and letter, but I only had the photocopy in my wallet, not the original. Decided not to chance it. Passport + expired GC + original letter and you'll have no problems.

For Vermont filers - we need to wait AT LEAST 10-12 months for movement.

So Jan-Feb we should expect something for Vermontees!

Movement as in approval/interview or as in RFE?

12/20/2013 - Day 7 - Received e-notification to say case has been accepted and processing at the USCIS National Benefits Center.

12/24/2013 - Day 11 - Received official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) in the mail.

12/31/2013 - Day 18 - Received letter for biometrics appointment on January 23rd.

01/13/2014 - Day 31 - Received RFE for form I-864

01/23/2014 - Day 41 - Biometrics done!

03/04/2014 - Day 81 - RFE response sent!

03/06/2014 - Day 83 - RFE response arrived there!

03/20/2014 - Day 97 - EAD card in production!

03/26/2014 - Day 103 - EAD card mailed out!

03/26/2014 - Day 103 - EAD card in USPS possession and given tracking number

03/26/2014 - Day 103 - Green card interview being scheduled! :D

03/30/2014 - Day 107 - USCIS mailed out our interview notice, scheduled for May 6th!

03/31/2014 - Day 108 - Received I-765 EAD work permit in the mail!

04/01/2014 - Day 109 - Received appointment for GC

05/06/2014 - Day 145 - GC interview approved!!!

So about the trip to Canada with the extension letter: i didn't need my passport in the end. Since Russians need a visa generally to go to Canada and GC holders don't, they check the GC and extension letter to let me both in and out.

In other news: i just checked my case status and it says "New card is being produced. On August 30, 2016, we ordered your new card for Receipt Number xxx, and will mail it to the address you gave us."

It means i got it, right??? :D

I'm the beneficiary.
