Hello everyone,

My husband and I sent our packet on 2/06/16 and they just r eceived it today 2/8/16 but his green card expires friday 2/12/16 does anyone know if it will be a problem?

We waited due to the fact that we had some financial problem

Would really appreciate any info

You can take your I-797C for filing and make a InfoPass appointment to get a updated 551 stamp in passport until new card arrives.

Hope not, some employers have furloughed employees with expired GCs. What you need to keep an eye out for is the Form I-797 ROC petition receipt (NOA1). That also letter authorizes a 1-year extension on your conditional PR status. Read some ROC forum threads for information about some extension letter issues. Hopefully, you won't get snared by a roving CBP documentation checkpoint prior to receipt of your extension letter. They have been known to operate in the southwestern US, and could ruin your day without the proper documentation.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

you will receive(in few days) a one year extension of his immigration status letter until they make a decision on your guy's application.

If they received it it should be fine.

Once they receive your petition, they will send you a notice and will automatically extend your Green Card to one year.

They wont deny you even if you filed late. It's not cause for denial unless you filed late (aka:past expiration) and couldn't give a valid explanation why in front of an immigration judge.

They reciev5es it before the green card expired so it'll be okay. Just make sure he keeps his nose clean until the NOA1 arrives. Even taking some vacation time if possible?

The ROC receipt is an extension letter. They will not give you an I-551 stamp if you already have an extension letter.

You are not correct, sorry. If one needs to travel but already has an extension letter, USCIS will provide the I-551 stamp because the extension letter is not sufficient to return to the USA after travel.

April 12, 2019  Received notice that Oath Ceremony had been scheduled for 24 April 2019.  17 days after interview.

Has anyone been denied entry to USA holding only the one year extension letter without I-551 stamp in their passport?

No, you are not correct.

1. The extension letter is absolutely sufficient to return to the US, and it says so clearly on the letter and on all US government guides for what documents are needed to return to the US. Whether some airlines act incorrectly is another matter.

2. People have reported that USCIS refused to issue them an I-551 stamp because they already have an extension letter.
