Much of this rioting is itself a result of racism by the rioters. Knee jerk reaction now to a black person killed by a cop is that the cop did it because of racism and that presumption itself is profoundly racist. This is why there is so little accuracy in the black lives matters movement because it champions justice not only for those who deserve it but did not receive it but also for those who already did (eg Michael brown).

so, outside of the riots..what do you think of the peaceful protests that actually made up the majority of action surrounding the murder of freddie gray? or is it just too easy to ignore when you've other, more incendiary racial middle of the road avenues to take?

The gains made in civil rights weren't made by people spreading their message by acting like animals, they were made by associating the message with firm, peaceful, civilized demand for change.
