In one of the letters I received from nvc I've noticed my husband's visa class was stated as IR-1, though we have been only marries for 10 months. Is that simply their mistake or that means anything?

It's their mistake, it happens. You just need to correct it at the interview. We have the same mistake, just the other way around. On May 14th, we had been married for two years but they still have us as applying for a CR-1 visa.

Jan 13th 2016 - Mailed our reply to the 221(g) to the US Embassy, received and CEAC updated the next morning


Jan 20th 2016 - Embassy require more in-depth info on asset for i-864


Feb 1st 2016 - Sent more in-depth info on assets as requested. Received the next morning

April 5th 2016 - POE Newark. No questions asked.


April 14th 2016 - SSN received


May 10th 2016 - First day at my new job :dancing:

I called Nvc yesterday in Nvc. And rep told they scheduled interview latter according cc date,and after case completion ,priority date is not matter in scheduling interview.

Plz reply,

Is rep tell a lie or is she right?

She also said its depend upon ur embassy when ur embassy give us time for ur interview then we scheduled ur interview. Plz share information.

That's correct. Depends on the embassy, it's not up to NVC anymore.

Based on what I have read here, you need to have a I-864 with an orginal signature, not a copy.

Folks:

If you sent an original signature I-864 to NVC, you do NOT need a new one at the interview (unless your interview letter SPECIFICALLY asks you for one).

Bring the COPY you made of what you sent to NVC.

IF, and only IF there is NEW information in your I-864 and/or you made a mistake in your I-864 and need it corrected, bring a NEW (use the most current version of the form, too), signed, original I-864 to your interview.

New information might be: your sponsor or co-sponsor has a new job; your sponsor or co-sponsor filed an extension on the their taxes for 2014 and now you have the real tax info; someone misspelled the name of the city where the petitioner was born, etc.

How soon after IR visa approval does a person become a permanent resident? Since the date the GC is issued, guess?If my Mom got her visa approved on October 27th, and she is only planning to come to the US in April, she will become a permanent resident then?

I really hope I have a January interview. I don't see why I wouldn't as people who had CC in October got interviews in December at the Consulate I am going to.

Hi Sekhvaruli,

Your mom will become a permanent resident immediately when she arrives in the US - the POE stamp on her passport visa is valid as a temporary GC for one year (i-551) .

However, you should be careful with the date your mom is planning her entry - it's usually 6 months from the date of the medical. So April might be too late if she got her approval in October.

You can check the exact date of entry expiration on the visa in her passport.
