Guys,

We are thinking of/preparing to move to Florida, specifically Panama City and i would like to know if anyone lives there and how they like it. Or what they think of living in Florida overall. I have tried looking online, but all the forum threads i see are from 2010-2012 and barely anybody has anything nice to say. But surely it can't be worse where we live now.

So, if you happen to have any input, let me know!

Guys,

Overall, it is nice here. The weather is fit with me. I live in Key West pretty far from mainland. After all, for me, as long as I am with my husband, place to live does not matter.

We just got back from the keys about a month or so ago. Looks like a fun place to live, that's for sure.

Why? I always wanted to move to Florida when I was younger but not now after seeing and hearing things about that state

To my understanding, Florida has no state income tax, which itself can be a reason to move there.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

In places, the Florida Panhandle isn't as much Florida as it is L.A. -- Lower Alabama.

The state charges a 6% tax rate on the sale or rental of goods, with some exceptions such as groceries and medicine. Additionally, counties are able to levy local taxes on top of the state amount, and most do—55 of the 67 Florida counties added local sales tax to the state tax in 2012. The highest amount added to the sales tax was 1.5% by 7 counties in 2012, bringing the total sales tax to 7.5% in those counties; that will increase to 8 counties in 2013. no state taxes in Florida but low wages. almost any state you can make more for same type of work even with paying state taxes

Weather unbelievable humidity hot also certain areas prone to hurricanes

sinkholes hopefully your house will not fall in one

Racist probably one of the worst state for that

but good luck moving there

am just saying do research before just moving there
