Hi guys,

My husband's interview is next week (I know, not an April interview, sorry). Will he need to take a copy of our joint sponsor's taxes? It's not april 15 yet, so I'm thinking they won't ask for it, but don't want to be wrong. Any idea? Also, will he need to take a copy of the 2013 one, since they'll have the original already? Thanks

I'm in the same boat as you guys. Does anyone know? :huh2::huh2:

If your interview is next week, they will NOT ask you for 2014 taxes. They cannot ask you for something that is not due yet!

Sukie - our interview is the end of April ,do we need to prepare a new i-864/I-864a packet with the 2014 information or do we just need to carry the one we submitted to the NVC along with the 2014 tax return ?

Also what other supporting financial documents do we have to carry ?

xilef,

Our AOS was approved on April 15th. Our CC was June 6th, and our interview was July 1st. We were NOT asked for ANY prior year's taxes, W-2s, or anything. Not asked for updated I-864. I did carry a copy of my prior year's tax return, just in case.

Now: I, as the petitioner, made significantly over the poverty line. Not even close. No co-sponsor needed.

What I would do, though, especially if your case is close to the poverty line, is to complete updated I-864/I-864a packages, and have a copy of the relevant 2014 tax returns or extensions with you at the interview. If you are asked for them - Hooray! You have them already! If you are not asked for them - Hooray!

Otherwise, I don't think you need to bring anything besides what the embassy/consulate has asked for.

Best of luck! It's coming soon!!!

Probably not, Newbie. But I'd carry a copy of the 2014 tax return (and copies of all schedules and all supporting W-2s) just in case. Your interview letter will specify exactly what you need to bring. Unfortunately, the line about updated taxes is usually very confusing....

I was so scared because we received a checklist for the Affidavit Of Support along with case complete Jan. 15th, 2015...it was incomplete...although we met the guidelines.

He was asked who petitioned for you? (Looking at the Hubby) He answered...

How long have you been married? (Looking at the Hubby) He answered...

How many kids does your wife have? Names? He answered...

The the man said...APPROVED:)

He didnt even ask for phone records or any other evidence....not even the updated AOS.

Good Luck to you all
