Hey everyone this is great Info! I do have a question, for my fiance's interview he will have the opportunity to pay for his adjustment of status at his interview? Is this money I need to send him or can he pay for it on his own( which he can afford ) so, my question is is it money the 1070 that should come from me or can he pay it upfront himself? I am going to get a packet of thinG's he needs to start filling out and mail it to him this weekend or next weekend then, after I've gotten all my tax returns and things together mail that to him also. My goal is to do it this month before december as the mail system gets crazy

The adjustment of status is filed after your fiance enters the US on the K1 visa and you two are legally wed.

The AOS costs $1070.00 in total, and it doesn't matter who pays it as long as it is paid. You cannot pay this in advance, it has to be paid in check or money order and sent in with your AOS application/petition.

I would suggest that you either put the money away in a bank account that you won't touch, or to get a cashier's check for it and set it aside with your AOS application. Please see Paying Immigration Fees.

What your fiance will need to pay when the interview comes up is the visa processing fees and the courier fees. ($265.00) Courier fees vary. How the visa fees are paid is dependent on the consulate/embassy.

I would be worried about surviving in US, living paycheck to paycheck with additional mouth to feed plus health insurance.

Plus, at least $1070 for the AOS filing fees.

Totally agree with that. There are alot of expenses getting here and and once arriving. I am working 16 hours of OT every 2 weeks so that put an entire paycheck in savings until the paperwork is approved and the girl gets here.

What is needed If you work for yourself?

I work for myself and I am a sitter/ nanny. What additional information is needed to show proof of income?

I have tax transcript from 2013, but for current income?

Bank statements showing the payments/deposits you've received for the current year.

They will use Total Income for self-employed. That is line 22 of the 1040. Provide copies of complete returns with all forms, schedules and 1099s, or IRS tax return transcripts to prove income. You can also supply bank statements to show how much you deposit each month. If you use quarterly profit/loss statements, then provide copies of those too.

Assets are optional and you do not list any all. If you meet the income requirement, just leave the entire assets section of the I-134 blank.

I can't answer the pension part, but the social security does NOT show up in Line 22, rather Line 20a. It does count because it is not considered a "mean tested public benefit".

You need to supply proof of the income. Provide a benefits letter for the SS income and proof of annual pension income. Just the tax return for those is not enough, especially if the SS income is non-taxable. For non-taxable income, it can help to provide bank statements too, in order to show how much you deposit each month.

I 3rd this. Life is expensive in the US. If you are making $22k/year you better be able to go without buying things on credit and living within your means because things can spiral out of control pretty quickly if you are not careful.

But golly, $1,070 is a gigantic sum.
