My Fiance and I have large age gap, 40 years to be exact. My interview date is getting near and I'm really nervous bcoz I know it's red flag. They said proof of supporting in our relationship from my family and friends would help. Do you have any forms or copy of that so I can use it as guide?and also give me some tips and advice. Thank you.

Large age differences is common for Manila. I am not sure they will see it as a red flag there. Provide proof of your genuine relationship.

I have a 20 year age difference and it wasn't an issue at all. Just show a genuine relationship. They might scrutinize your relationship more because of the large age gap, but if everything is in order, I don't think you will have much of a problem.

I attended the interview with my then fiancee (now wife :) ) and the CO mentioned that it was great that I was there supporting her and showing how strong our relationship is. Is it possible for your fiance to attend the interview with you? It will only strengthen your position.

I'm just wondering if the petitioner can join the beneficiary during interview.

Yes, and that's a good thing. Some people who had their petitioners with them was asked less questions.

I think that depends on which consolate/embassey you go too. At the consolate i went to, he wasn't even allowed in the interview room.

Well 40 years is not the record, I know of one that is 47 years. Age gap is very common for the Philippines. If it is making you nervous, have letters from your parents stating they support your marriage to your fiance... nothing fancy, just a nice letter.

Tips: Be confident, self-assured, look the CO in the eyes when speaking and smile... :)

I'm not sure what the US Embassys rules are in the Philippines. I'm in Canada and had to go to the Montreal US Consolate and my fiance was allowed in the consolate but not in the interveiw room. He tried to come in with me, but the interveiwer said he wasn't allowed and so he had to wait outside the room.

Yet everyone that is responding in this thread has a PI flag in their profile, so are likely sharing their experiences about their interviews in Manila.

Don't worry about the age gap, you will be fine. :-) During my interview at US embassy in Manila I met a lady who also had the same schedule as I was, she was so worried bcoz of the age gap, her fiance was like 40 years older than her too, but she got approved. :-)

You guys make me feel so much better! Our age difference is 30 years - which I thought must be some kind of record. And I've felt terrible about it. Not because it affects our relationship at all, but just in thinking how old I'll be when she's the age I am now.

Love conquers all. Age gap between my husband and I only 13 years, lol. I did not even know if you and your fiancé actually have age gap 30 years. You are surprised me, really. I don't know how old you are or your fiancé now but I think you are looked young than your age. Just like my husband, :P .
