Hey hi all

I have a question about ds-260 hope somebody can help.... There is a question on ds-260 "Have you ever been refused a U.S visa, been refused admission to united states or withdrawn your application for admission at the port of entry?" I had applied for a visit visa two years back but didnt get it...On the ds-260 i clicked "no" for this question and submitted it since i thought from a different perspective my husband was telling, but now i am thinking if i did the right thing and freaking out....

Will this be a problem?Does NVC send checklists for ds-260? Or do you think this would be a problem at the interview? Could i explain it to them at the interview about the question if they ask?I dont intend to be dishonest in anyway......

I hope somebody can help me with this scenario who had a similar situation....or maybe saylin can help....

Thank you!!

I have the same question too. My husband tried 2 years ago by submitting an application and went to his interview, because his grandma in the states was ill. They denied him because she passed away by the time he had his interview, and I am not sure whether to put yes or no on the ds-260.

The most shocking thing happened to me.

I talked to NVC to check how our case is going, and the operator told me we had received AOS checklist on Aug 30. I believed our AOS was approved long ago, but I checked my mail folder, I found it...we didn't notice it and did nothing for a month. Our IV scan date is Aug 21, and so I thought we would receive case close next month. But it was wrong.

I know this is all our fault, but I am too shocked. I hope my husband will wake up soon(it is still at 5am) and will send the correct stuff today.

If you've been denied a US visa in the past, you need to indicate that on the DS-260 by answering "yes" to that question. It's cut and dry; they're not concerned with reasoning behind the decision at that point. Checklists don't seem to be issued for the DS-260, but you absolutely need to be honest about this at the interview and bring any related documentation you may have. The consular officer will know you applied for a visa and didn't get it, so be prepared.

If you wait till they ask then you're doomed. One of the first things you need to do at the Consulate is present a signed statement before the formal interview begins explaining the mistake and admitting the visa denial and explaining the circumstances. I would even send an advanced email copy to the embassy once they receive my case.

If the CO decides you were hiding it on purpose, you'll not only get denied... you might actually receive a ban from re-applying for a number of years.

Hi BOS-LHR,

What type of related documents are you referring? Refusal letters?

I have applied for student visa twice, should I bring my I20 and sevis fee receipt? My sponsor's financial statements or what else

Yes I have mentioned in ds 260 about it also stated the reason of refusal the VO told me at that time.

Do you think it may result in refusal in IR1 case?

Your help is highly appreciated.

Hey Guys,

Lets pray that things move faster with NVC now.

I have a quick question. I had lost my orginal Birth certificate, years back. Now I have applied with the issuing authority for a replacement & I got the replacement. On the replacement , they have mentioned in bold letters DUPLICATE . Will that be an issue while submiting to NVC ?

call nvc asp , tell the problem, ask them if they can correct it for you. Dont wait till interview ,cuz no is not correct answer, false statement can ruin all the hard work and suffer u had all this month.
