You have to focus on ties to your country . It's not about where you go in US (unless it seems unbelievable) but you have to convince the CO at interview you will return. Those are the strong ties you will show.

No, place where you'll going is not matter. It is matter how you convince the consular officer that you'll going back to your home country after visit.

Hi RJ,

In my opinion, no. Your indicating that you're going to Minnesota didn't affect the result of the interview.

That's one of the reasons a B1/B2 Visa is issued, for tourism purposes be it Minnesota, Utah, North Dakota or where ever.

If that's where you want to visit, then that's what you should indicate on the application. Just be honest. I'm not insinuating what your intentions are, but as has been pointed out in previous threads, being less than truthful doesn't help.

If you're visiting family and/or friends, try to attend a Minnesota Twins baseball game or go to the Mall of America.

Yes, you should be focusing on the establishment of ties. Good luck.

Regards.

Minnesota as the destination without a clear cut reason for choosing Minnesota might well have affected the outcome of the interview - insofar as credibility was concerned. If the OP mumbled something about always wanting to go where it's cold, well, that would sound odd for someone from a country whose climate is 180 degrees the opposite of Minnesota...or the oft tried visiting a 'family friend'...could also have led to a denial, again, based on a lack of credibility.

A fan of Fargo?

Pleaseeeee! OP U have to show strong ties to YOUR country, good job & salary, bank acct bal.

house & motor vehicle title, solid long-term lease if renting, a spouse or kids not traveling with

U and convince the CO U will return to your country after vacationing. It matters not what state U

traveling to U have to prove U can afford a vacation.....having lots of family here don't make your

case necessarily stronger....U have to be honest at interview is a reminder, really no one in the

forum knows if U R credible or not.

Thanks all, the answers where really objective

I got the point.

but my wife wants me to visit her in the us (she's american), I have no intention to do illegal stuff like overstaying the visa, but she was telling stuff like.. if it's a bad idea to say that I'm married to the consular agent ( in the interview for the tourist visa)?

another thing I did not submit the marriage visa application.

thank you again for the good answers!

You just answer the questions they ask you, usually very few. You have been through the process already so know.

They will know about your marriage anyway so not relevant.

Well, if you're trying to conceal facts, they will find out and deny your application.

Tell the truth. Always. Or you'll keep getting denied.
