I think banning people is counterproductive if this site wants maximum participation. A much more effective way that doesn't hinder member participation is to insitute thread bans when someone repeatedly posts in a thread that violates the TOS. Those who are habitual offenders should be on a watch list. Enough times of being thread banned will discourage them to leave on their own.

The mods already utilize thread bans. (but then) If the TB'd VJ is a repeat offender = Site Suspension...& apparently...the point system leads to Site Ban.

IMO - mods are tired chasing = recidivists.

100% agree. That's how it used to be. Now the nuclear option of closing the thread entirely and handing out bans seems to be the norm around here. It must take some extra key strokes to thread ban someone vs. nuking the entire thread with the "Do not restart this thread" warning at the bottom.

10 members can be having an interesting debate on a subject, and one member can come in and throw a few hand grenades, and the whole thread gets closed. Not really fair to the other 9 members.

That's a great idea!

Knowledgeable VJ members should not waste their precious time helping people and answering questions repeatedly in the Upper Forum.

It will also weed out lazy VJ members who can't do their own research and keep asking what next? what to do? questions, expecting spoon feeding and their hands held through out the entire immigration process.
