NVC Filers - April 2014

I have a question for you guys at NVC stage, so it takes about 60 days at NVC stage to complete, but does that start from the day the case arrives or from the day NVC gives you a case number and IIN?

The average from Case # to Case Complete for 2014 is currently running at 58 days. See the spreadsheet (thank Ms Saylin) here:

Also, please do the following while waiting:

1. Fill in your Timeline

2. Read the NVC Wiki (again thank Ms. Saylin)

3. Submit your info to her via the Form created. This helps update the information which helps everyone.

Again congratulations on your NOA2. Now things will move much faster. I hope your AOS and IV packages are ready to be shipped.

Now, should I be concerned? or should I wait until Monday before calling them?

You're just days behind me, and that's exactly what happened to me too. Check a few times a day and before you know it, it will be available. I was hoping for faster access than that too!

I was first able to fill in the DS 261. Had to wait another day for the AOS fee - two emails popped up from NVC moments after I had checked CEAC and couldn't pay the AOS, so I logged back in and there it was! One email was to do the DS261, which I already had. The second was to pay the AOS fee.

No snail mail from NVC; form is pointless. Phew. Thanks. It was really worrying me, hearing this makes me feel much better, thank you!

Okay, so...

NOA 2: March 20th, 2014

NVC received the case: April 7th, 2014

I called them today and got this information. I was told it is currently taking them up to 30 days to put the case in their system and get a number and that I should call on May 7th to inquire again.

I have a question I would appreciate your help with: Must I select an agent for my case that is in the US?

I understand that I am supposed to select someone in the US, normally the petitioner, to be agent and mail in all the documents. However, my husband will visit me in my country soon and he will stay here for nearly three months. My husband is coming over because our child is due in May. He will be with us until the end of July and we will fill out a CRBA for the child at the US Embassy. When his paternity leave is up, he will be going back to the US. The baby and I will follow some time after the summer, depending on when my visa is issued.

So, the point is that my husband will not be able to mail anything from the US and we can do it from my country just fine. I would prefer it if the two of us were doing this, rather than bugging his mother to do it for us from the US.

What should I do about this? Should I appoint him the agent and then have his mother pick up mail and read it out to us over the phone? Will anything be sent to him if we use email for correspondence?

Should I appoint my mother-in-law as agent as she will actually be physically present in the US?

Do I need to appoint an agent? Can I appoint myself? :/

What do you guys advise?

I am not sure if anyone already responded. Then this might be a duplicate. Assigning someone as Agent is optional. Normally the beneficiary (overseas) assigns the petitioner (in US). But you do not have to. And also you do not have to mail the documents (AOS and IV packages) from a US address. They can be mailed from overseas, just fine. Use a reliable shipper like DHL etc.

After you give NVC the two email addresses (Petitioner and Beneficiary) they will be sending everything by email to both of you. As far as I can tell there are no snail mails.

Another point. Once you receive your Case # and IIN, you do not even have to wait to receive their emails. You just log in to the CEAC website and complete the business there (DS261, Paying AOS fees, then later Paying IV fees, DS260). The payment of these two fees must come out of US bank accounts. But that can be done from overseas, too.

Best wishes on the arrival of your baby. This is certainly an excellent news.

Finally was able to reach a very nice, polite, and helpful gentleman at NVC this evening after only two tries. IV package was touched on 4/3. No CC yet. But he did congratulate me on the good job I have done so far - ha ha.. and he said hopefully when I call next time they will have some good news for me. I think they are taking their time going thru' and appreciating our beautiful 30 page wedding album :)

I just made a 106 page wedding album!! (well we had one wedding in the USA and a year later a reception in CR, so lots of pictures!) Had a 50% off coupon for shutterfly. I bought two, one for us and one for my in-laws. Since I'm stealing away their son.

I did *not* send these to NVC/USCIS. They just got a couple crappy printouts.

The NVC told me today that my AOS was received on 4/3 and the IV packet on 4/7 and to wait 6 - 8 weeks for them to input them into the system

Now, I know the wait isn't that long. Hopefully I will get "Case Complete" sometime in the next two or three weeks.

I for one, we did not want to send the entire album so I made extra copies of some picture of the pictures and I attached it. In all it was around 80 individual pictures
