When you send in a checklist, do you have to send in an entire new I864?

Also, do you have to wait for a barcode or something to be sent? Or just send it in. I was hoping to get it out today.

I got my transcript online and compared to my I864, I wrote total income! It's just that total income and adjusted gross are the same number. How could it possibly be the wrong number??

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I just checked my transcripts and 1040 for 2013

Here's what I found

Total income (in transcript) =total income on 1040 = adjusted gross income ( transcript) =adjusted gross income on 1040

Some how all are equal for me!!

Yup. Technically, like half an hour north of Montreal, but more people have heard of Montreal than my tiny town, so ;)

And um, ya, don't visit Canada during the winter unless you really like snow! :P

Oh but it can be so beautiful in winter.... (or miserable depending on WHERE you are.... I suggest staying away from the land of flat (Alberta) and the land of flatter (Sask) in winter. And staying away from Manitoba anytime there is flooding (spring) or insects (pretty much any time but winter.)

Only for a Massachusetts native would spring break in Montreal sound like a good idea, lol. Last time I was there, the friend I was visiting brought me to Juliette et Chocolat... it's worth the cold and the snow if I get to have hot chocolate like that ^_^

Grrrr. Just called NVC and got a checklist for my AOS. They said my income for 2012 was wrong, even though I know I checked it like a million times to make sure I put total income for the 1040! Problem is I'm looking at the copy of my tax transcript and I just now noticed the freaking lady at the copy place didn't copy the backside of the paper, so I don't have the info to look at!

The NVC lady said you can't take "total income" off of the tax transcript, it has to come from the 1040. Which is weird, how could it be different? So now I'm trying to call my mom to see if she has a copy of my 1040, because I don't have it here in CR with me.

Also said I have a checklist for "proof of employment" when I obviously stated that I LIVE ABROAD and so it won't count. NVC lady said I need to send in a note saying "I didn't include proof of employment because I don't work in the USA"

Grr.

How would they know what's on 1040 if you have not submitted it, if they check irs all that would be available will be transcripts.

Did your have joint house hold income, meaning just your total on w2 would be different than transcript total of house hold.

No, it remains "At NVC" until it goes to the embassy. The only notification you get is by email about a week after your case is complete.

Yea, there is steam coming out of my ears right now !!!

Talked to a nice guy at the NVC. He said, it is possible that they could checklsit for the signature BUT he has never seen a checklist for that reason. ( a glimmer of hope) He said that sometimes if there is a correction needed on the AOS, they will just update it at the interview. So I am hoping it is only the dumb signature on the AOS. I hope they corrected the adjusted gross income and replaced it with the total income. Seems to me the lawyer is mad that I am reading up on the process. I was right on the income number. Don't you just love how they try to blame me for their mistake....??? really??. is that what $3300. buys these days???

me too but not right now....

Congrats on your expedite ( HAHAHAHA)

A friend of mine just got a checklist because their lawyer forgot to put the date on the form. Another member on here realized a mistake on their AOS packet and submitted an amended form BEFORE the NVC issued the checklist and didn't lose any time getting a case complete. If I were you, I would get the form properly signed and send it ASAP just to be safe. Because as I just learned the hard way, a checklist sets you back a whole month. Just a suggestion.

Also make sure to write you case # on the content of all pages.

Did your have joint house hold income, meaning just your total on w2 would be different than transcript total of house hold.

For 2012 I filed "single" so there's no way the number would be different, right?

Okay, if you say your numbers are the same I'm about to call back and fight this. I mean, #######?

But I guess I'll still have to send in a letter saying that I didn't include employment proof because I work abroad (even though they could tell that from my address!!!).

Looking for opinions.. Apparently my lawyer is mad because I asked them to hurry and submit our packages... Below is the email I received at 11am today. He is blaming me now... I am on hold with NVC to ask if his missing sugnature will cause delays. I signed the AOS appication. There is a spot for his signature on that but I don't know what else he would sign except the cover sheet. My husband is PISSED.

The lawyer is responding to my email this morning asking if the papers were sent yesterday...

It did. However, I feel like you put so much pressure on Dayane that she mailed it out, and she neglected to get my signature on a document. So your wanting to get it out so fast actually worked against you.

I know you read all the websites and youre on the phone all the time with the NVC. So let me make a proposal. There are two ways to work this:

1) You let us take care of it, realizing that, just like at a Doctors office, there are other patients and understand therell be a wait for services thats not too long but probably longer than youd like. But it will get done at a pace we are comfortable with and can give it our best. Or:

2) You take care of all the consular processing yourself, and we just focus on the waiver. This way, you handle all the consular processing applications and paperwork and youve got it in your control, and can move it as fast as you like. That is workable. And the waiver part, which requires a legal argument and a framework, will be handled by us, since we have the most experience and a good track record.

Let me know what is best for you and you feel most comfortable with. And if you have questions, please ask.

Many thanks,

IMO, take them up on option #2. You obviously know more about things on this end than they do.

Have you looked on the reciprocity table on the NVC website?

http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/submit/documents-to-submit-to-nvc.html

http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country.html

finally

http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country/SN.html#docs

Everyone who has lived in more than one country can look up the country's requirements to obtain police certificates or any other documents needed from the reciprocity table.
