They were saying 6 to 8 weeks only a month ago. So 30 days now is a huge improvement.

From what you posted earlier your 1040 got rejected. Make sure it gets accepted before using it for i864.

I don't work and I just read saylin's wiki post that I can submit 1040 which is all my accountant filed for me since I don't work and I told her to put the gross income as $19,800.. so I believe NVC will except this.. If I send them my 1040

Gosh I can't believe how inconsistent they are, they told us that the only way was to send the email inquiry. It's been 2 weeks and my husband's address is still the foreign one. Thanks for your post though, it might help others.

Gosh I can't believe how inconsistent they are, they told us that the only way was to send the email inquiry. It's been 2 weeks and my husband's address is still the foreign one. Thanks for your post though, it might help others.

They let me update my phone # over the phone also.

I would say its also wildly dependent on the operator you get.

Ok so can anyone help here..

,,, When i submitted mu i130 i was living in Hong Kong, however my lawyer added a note to say we were moving back to the UK (last September). Well USCIS didn't want to know that i moved (for some reason!) and told me to update with the NVC.....

.... So i get my case # with the NVC, and it starts HNK, which is for Hong Kong (originally i was given a GUZ number but they changed this)... so i called them and they told me to email my change of address, which i did..... my lawyer also did this through the special "lawyer e-mail"...

However they also told me that they would take up to 30 days to change my address..... therefore do i have to wait for them to change my number to an LND number, or can I pay the fees for my HNK number and send the info (i.e. process as normal) and they will just change the number on the case when they get round to it?

NVC tell me to use the HNK one, but she "can't advise me further".... typical

AHHHHHHHH, just talked to the paralegal,,, she is telling me I need my divorce decree toooo??? for the IV package???? do I really???? NVC operator didn't mention that.. And I mentioned I wanted this to go out today or tomorrow.. she says I can't guarantee I will work on it today... #######????? OMG OMG I swear I hate depending on others to do what I can do faster....

I guess I just delayed my stupid papers now. Dang.... I have my last divorce papers but I have to get another divorce decree from the county where I live... OMG this is annoying

You shouldn't need your divorce decree, only his. The IV packet is all his stuff. The only part that is about you is the AOS. Your doc's already have been cleared by USCIS.

I have similar situation. NVC gave me case number for Moscow Russia, but I am Ukrainian and live in Ukraine. I did sent them e-mail requesting to correct theirs mistake. One rep told me to wait for new case number before doing anything. I am going to call NVC today again and talk to another rep, because everybody there give different answers all the time. Why do I have to wait 30-40 days for theirs mistake. It is BS

I know that some VJ members( after talking to them) who's case number got changed, because theirs loved ones moved, were able to do DS-261 and AOS using old case #. If I find out something else I will let you know.

Hey thanks. Actually i was actually assigned a GUZ case number (Guangzhou!) but they then assigned it to HNK (Hong Kong) and they did this in 24 hours, so I KNOW it can be done!

When I spoke to the NVC they said that both GUZ and HNK numbers would work, so i guess it doesn't matter if they change it down the line, their systems would have to be really bad! however i can't believe it adds a month just to change the address. I am going to call tonight and make sure again......

That is what I thought. I am going to call the NVC again.. I don't have a problem sending the divorce decrees HOWEVER, anyone who knows how Costa Rica is....the divorce decree I was given from the family court is a fax that is certified true and correct... Its what they give. or at least what they gave me. I am the only one who can request that document from the registry so if I need something different, I'd have to be present in Costa Rica to get it. I can bring it to the interview if that is what they want but I won't be able to get it before then. I'm not flying there just for ONE document. I did print out the page from the national registry that shows I am divorced. I am so sick of the lawyers office not knowing the process. I am just floored at the AOS paperwork she wanted me to sign. You would think the lawyers would be on top of "not leaving any blanks"

Fyi people:

You do NOT need to update your addresses with the NVC. Unless you need to change the country or consulate, simply write the newest address for the USC on the I-864 and for the immigrants on the DS-260.

Also if you have to change case numbers because you're routed to the wrong embassy or consulate (yes there is a difference between the two) then do not do anything, do not pay bils or send packages, until the the new number is assigned. Remember you should be writing your case number on your civil documents and aos doxuments. You do not want these lost if your case number changes.

Tico - the petitioner does not need to supply the NVC with their divorce decrees. Only the beneficiary does. A photocopy of yours was included with the I-130.

Unless this is something special with your waiver but I doubt it.
