I am on hold at NVC right now... This was the worst ever case for me, 36 redials to get through. Never had that happen before even during normal busier hours!

Plus no music or background of multiple people telling us to be patient tonight.. only one guy coming on every minute or to say the agent are busy! It's so weird, I have become so used to the routine calling so many times over the last month.

I got the same thing tonight too. I thought my call got disconnected, just total silence except for that one guy every couple minutes. I had to keep looking at my cell phone to make sure I was still connected with NVC.

After 19 calls and 45 minutes of waiting to get ahold of someone at the NVC I finally get an answer and they tell me they have not received my case and I have to call back in 6-8 weeks... so annoyed!!! Anyways... I filed my taxes single before I started reading this forum so I have to re-do my taxes. Can anyone please tell me if I file married filing separate do I need to put his info at all? Like his name DOB and the country or do I not have to do that at all? Thank you guys for your help!

Yeah that's funny you mention that, because last night was the first time I tried calling NVC, and after about 20 redials with just busy signal, I had thought to myself if it's even worth all this effort just to ask if they received my case. I tried today, and I got through after about 10, but I was on hold for 40 minutes.

They said they hadn't receieved my case, approved 3/30/14 (received email 3/31) but shipped 4/3/14 (received email 4/4). Do you guys think it's too soon?

Nope. All you need to put is his full name under the filing status section and "NRA" on the SSN section.

Hello everyone,

My case has been transferred to NVC on April 3rd, and at this time I'm waiting to contact them to ask about my case number & INN..also, I was wondering if I should wait to email them mine and my husband email address or should I just provide them our email addresses right now?

Also another confusion, hopefully Saylin will be able to help me, I didn't work last year at all but I went to school. I have 1098, & I tried to file the tax (even if I didn't have any earnings last year) by only with what I have that is 1098..but when I started the process of tax filing online ( which is what I every year do), the amount I was getting back was $0.. Am I still suppose to file the tax? Even if I'm not getting anything back or paying back anything? I don't want this to be an issue, later at the embassy because I know they are very strict about tax return documents..FYI my dad will be helping me with AOS documents and will be using his 3 years of tax return...please suggest what should I do? Still file tax even if the amount shows $0? Please help..the last day to file the tax is the 15th of April!

Thanks in advance!

Please take some time to read Sayln's NVC Wiki regarding your next steps at this stage:

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

Regarding your tax question, you need to check with the IRS to confirm whether you need to file taxes or not. From what you wrote, it sounds like you do not have to file taxes since you did not have any income. The 1098 is only a statement from your school declaring how much they billed you and how much you paid them.

I don't work and I just read saylin's wiki post that I can submit 1040 which is all my accountant filed for me since I don't work and I told her to put the gross income as $19,800.. so I believe NVC will except this.. If I send them my 1040

From Saylin's NVC Wiki:

"Note: members have had luck sending the packages as soon as they pay the bills (since the bar-coded cover sheet becomes available after paying). If you're not going to wait for it to appear as PAID in the portal, at least wait until the money has cleared the bank account."

Hello, I filed my 2013 taxes as single and now realize I should have filed as married. I want to amend them and file as married filing separately.

1) For Married Filing Separately, I don't need an ITIN number right?

2) I can just attach the amended return on top of the old one right?

3) Will this delay my wife's immigration process, just found out NVC received our case 5 days ago.

4) Any reason to not file as Married Filing Separately since my wife lives in Peru currently and I am not concerned with tax benefits at this poi

Couldn't you have filed head of household? No dependents? You can file head of household and not have to list your wife if she was an non resident alien. Then you would not have to have an itin

It's about time for you for NVC to have received your case officially. However, there is no point calling them everyday (and stressing over it). I would say, call maybe twice a week to enquire whether they received it and when. After the receipt date they will take another 3 to 4 weeks to assign Case # and IIN. So after receiving the receipt date wait for at least 2 weeks, and then call a little more often (maybe every other day). For me the late night 10 ~12 pm Eastern worked best.

Thank you. no matter what ill do ill stress over it :D its hard waiting. Calling keeps me sane.

We paid AOS and IV fees. Now preparing AOS packages to send. Then our lawyer told us to submit my original police clearances and birth certificate with the package. But I have only one originals of my birth cert and Indian & UAE PCCs.

So is it a good idea to send my only originals to NVC?

If submitted to NVC, do I need to submit originals again at my UAE embassy interview??

Regarding my Indian PCC, I received it from Indian Consulate in UAE. So this simple white paper with indian consulate name (printed on top), consular signature and stamp is enough?

Kindly reply :)
