still no case number yet but today when i called NVC, he said the case is getting processed,

Some thing different then all the other reps (normally all the reps say it has not been put in our system yet)

is it something to get excited about??

Man, almost a month since NO2 and no case number yet...

not true for all service center. Texas does and California doesn't. its recommended to call than waiting for their response.

Hey Saylin I have a question, The FAQ says that

If the joint sponsor is a household/family member, also include proof of that relationship (example: if a parent is a joint sponsor, include the petitioner's birth certificate with parents' name on it to show link).

This is may case, since I am still a student. I am not sure what to put my dad as on the form. The joint sponsor? My dad's income is not significant for an only sponsor, I am using a 2nd sponsor. I am dependent on my dad currently, so on the form I-864, do I label my dad as the joint sponsor (1st) or the petitioner (since I am dependent on him). I am confused. Thanks.

My approved I130 from NSC has been shipped to Dept of State for visa processing today (2 days after approval). How long does it take for NVC to receive the case?

Its taking anywhere from 2 to 8 weeks too get to NVC. Just because USCIS says they sent doesn't mean its sent. Just keep calling NVC

Your I-864: choose 1a (petitioner) [whether you have income or not, you're still the petitioner, no one else]

Your dad's I-864: 1e (and check the first sponsor box)

The other sponsor's I-864: 1e (and check the second sponsor box)

Just saw this on a thread and thought I'd share here too as it's relevant. You can now get the IRS tax transcripts online (no longer need to wait to receive it by mail)!! Look here: http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript

This will make it even easier (and way faster) for people to get their tax transcripts to send to NVC

Uhh question: I am adopted, so do I need to copy my adoption papers with my fathers name on them? ( I Mean I still have his last name I havent changed it yet). Fathers also sponsoring for me.

Hi... I am kinda in the same situation I stopped working from 2012 to finish nursing school and just graduted planning to start working asap. I was going to have my dad joint sponser but do I need also other sponser other than my father? Just want to make sure I am doimg things correctly thanks!!!

You cant really rely on timelines. Some dont fill out every box. Others were expedited thats why they dont need to pay fee at nvc.

Hi Saylin!

We just received an email containing the Case numbers for me and my daughter along with the IIN and Beneficiary ID numbers. Do we call NVC now and give them my email and my husband's email? My husband is the petitioner and will also be assigned as our choice of agent. Also, on the AOS fee, do we need to pay just one AOS fee or one for me and my daughter? I hope to hear from you soon. Thanks!

Thanks so much for your reply. I will call our lawyer to inform him about this. And he was also asking my (beneficiary) police record to give to USCIS. Just a cautionary note: I filled out my I-864, printed it....got it ready to send, thought I ought to check it again...and of course, I found a mistake.

Fixed that...printed it out again....and found ANOTHER thing I'd filled out wrong. Like my dad used to say, "Measure twice cut once," meaning check your form and double- and triple-check it before you send it in. At this stage of the game we want no more delays!
