Overwhelming sense of dread

Hi, my fiance and I have been in the K1 process for a year now. He got his interview date today for october 7th. He has already purchased a plane ticket for the 16th to come home.

After reading horror stories...I have this overwhelming sense of dread. Im so nervous he will get denied. I sent him all of the forms and tons of evidence. I just worry that they will say no.

How many of you have been denied?...any words of encouragement?....what else do i need to do?...

The horror stories are actually very few and fair between (and even less so in London) but everyone has a habit of dwelling on the rare case.

You'll be totally fine. 99% of London interviewees on VJ are fine and are approved with no bother. The fact that you've been here, on the forum, keeping really up to date on what to do and when means you're more prepared than most people the embassy will see that day. Read the interview reviews to make you feel better: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=United+Kingdom&cty=&dfilter=5&topic=K1+Visa Notice the 5 star average? That's because hardly anyone ever gets denied in London from VJ.

Honestly, relax. I near gave myself a break-down the week before my interview and it was completely, 100%, unnecessary.

You want something to do? Double check your "documents required for interview" list and make sure that's in order.

We've all had that feeling as the interview date approaches. After all, there's that one person left standing between you and your sweetheart and that person is a big unknown. But, relax because the overwhelming odds say everything will be alright (or, at worst, easily correctable.)

Feb. 19, 2016 - NOA1

I agree! Relax! London is pretty easygoing. So long as someone isn't in it for immigration fraud, the worst that would likely happen is that they approve you on the condition that you send the additional forms.

As Lost_at_Sea said, you seem very organized and on top of it, so you really should try and stay calm (MUCH easier said than done).

You're almost to the end! Congrats! And enjoy that you have an interview date and can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

IMHO just make sure he has ORIGINAL documents in hand in the event that they are requested. Yes even if you submitted them already it is a good idea to have a complete set of the application in hand at the interview...all original.

Just my two cents.

Oh and, GOD BLESS

Aloha Ke Akua

WE WERE DENIED

I am sorry to hear that. I remember you posted about filed K-1 visa a while back and denied because your fiancee did not put your name on B-2 visa when she applied it, if I am not mistakenly remember. I hope this time you would have a better luck with CR-1/IR-1 visa. Good luck

*** Thread moved from K-1 Process forum to the Embassy/Consulate forum -- topic involves that phase. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hi! I read your post and decided to reply. My husband purchased tickets before my interview even though we did know we didn't have to buy tickets in advance. He was at the interview with me. We were approved, the interview was easy, the consular section staff couldn't even be nicer! Moreover, after the interview my husband asked the consular to issue visa as soon as possible because we had tickets . They did everything to help us having issued visa 2 days after the interview . Maybe my advice is not correct but if you feel that you have all paper work done for the interview, don't have any potential problems connected with the immigration law you can take the risk and buy tickets.

I am sure everything will be perfect !!!

And good luck!

One thing more .......And yes, the decisions are made BEFORE you show up at the embassy. That was my feeling when the interview started.
