Does anyone on here know if crossing the border from Canada into the US gets harder once your petition has been approved? I am heading to LA next week for a few days on business and I am a bit worried that they will deny more easily now that this has happened. I have all of my paperwork that ties me to Canada (property tax bill, business cards for Canada based business, return ticket to Canada, etc), but just wanted to get a feel of what I am in for at the border.

This is a important message to all of us filling I-130 and KI for Brazilian spouses here in March or anyone still waiting for approval of a visa. We may now have a reason to push our applications as a emergency. Here is a bill that is going for a vote in June. The House Appropriations Committee on Wednesday approved a 2014 Homeland Security funding bill with a bipartisan voice vote. The bill is expected on the House floor in June. The text of the amendment withholds all funding from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to process any immigration visa request for a Brazilian national. The committee approved an amendment from Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio), which would effectively end immigration from Brazil. If this passes I am not sure when it will take effect it talked about the 2014 budget for Homeland Security. If you are in process like me it maybe time to declare this as a special circumstance. Here is a website that explains this Amendment please write your congressman to kill this.

I was approved a few days ago.

March 8th filing.

I wonder why i don't see your timeline in the list here - it's for NBC and all. Weird. (o.O) Congrats on getting approved!

I'm the beneficiary.

Don't have a timeline? Don't know how to get started with it? Do it for the statistics sake: VJ video guide

Filing for a USC spouse visa (IR-1/CR-1) and not sure what comes next? Check out the VJ IR-1/CR-1 guide

Want to know what's happening with your case? Here's the USCIS tracking page (get an account and see if the case's been 'touched'!). Don't get your hopes up though, some cases never even appear there despite being successfully processed.
