Lack of proof of bonafide relationship, not free to marry, already married ( in their eyes ) not enough money for affidavit , fiance doesn't know details of work or family

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

didn't meet within 2 years, did not adhere to the cultural norms (such as didn't have an engagement ceremony when this is customary for the local culture, or one fiance is much older than the other when this is unusual for the local culture).

Thanks much, yes in my country they do engagement ceremonies but that is not for same sex couples, they are not really acceptable here. so the embassy would know it.

Health issues will not prevent a K1 visa being issued, unless you have a communicable disease such as TB- but even then, a visa rarely gets denied, just delayed until treatment has taken place. If the beneficiary has major and ongoing health issues or is elderly, the CO may ask for proof of health insurance, but that is extremely rare in fiance and spousal visa cases- more common when elderly parents are being petitioned.

in last 2 weeks, Ukraine embassy has started denying Visa if fiancé does not speak English. They are paying attention to Skype logs, wanting to make sure you can communicate together.

Personally if you're looking for a reason to be worried you'll find it.

There are some things you can't get passed such as sufficient income, having met in the last two years, having a real relationship and the evidence to prove it. I would also say ability to communicate is also important.

Visiting often is helpful it shows that you're serious about the relationship. Just save all the receipts, tickets, boarding passes that you can.

Also the ability to communicate in English is a real bonus.

The Visa process can cause a lot of worry and will drive you crazy if you let it.

Don't look for more reasons to worry, focus on being organized, filling out the forms correctly, and meeting the requirements they ask for, anything else is just someone's opinion. If your relationship is for real it will work out.

Good luck to you!

Journey so far:

Criminal background on behalf of beneficiary or petitioner.

Unless it's AWA-related crimes then a criminal record is rarely of consequence for the petitioner.

I am a student in the U.S. and my fiance is living in Peru. I only have a part-time job since I am a student so I don't think meet the financial support requirement. My mom has agreed to be a joint sponsor but I heard that some places don't really care about that. How will my situation effect his ability to get the visa?
