Hello everyone!

I just wanna ask if it is necessary that you have been in a relationship for 2 years before you can file a fiance visa? Got confused because i kept on seeing in some post that "we should meet within 2 years of our relationship. What does it mean? Me and my fiance has been in a relationship for 10 months now and he visited me already and stayed with me for 2 months. We decided to file the K-1 Visa because we wanted to be together as soon as possible. Are we qualified to file for K-1 Visa already?

You have to meet in-person at least once within 2 years of the date the petition is filed. If the time of your 2 month visit occurred from this time in 2011 to the present, you have satisfied this requirement and the petition can be filed.

Oh, thanks God we don't need to wait for two years before we can file a K-1. Actually my fiance told me to just ignore the 2 years because we already met each other and had been together for 2 months. It's just me who wanted to make sure everything so he doesn't need to pay double for the application if ever the first one will not be accepted. Now, our only problem is his hair! He dyed it blue! Forgot that he haven't had his passport photo taken yet. Wonder if we go and have his photo taken with blue hair since that is his latest appearance now or do something else and stick onto what he looks like in his Passport!

Yeah BLUE! Now we are taking every options on what to do. Told him to just take the picture since the photo requirements doesn't specifically said that you can't dye your hair. But maybe BLUE is to much though..lol..Now, we are thinking to re dye it again with same color as his natural hair color. Hope the result will be better than good..Oh, by the way, He was thinking of PINK next time or GREEN!..

Here is some info from the DOS website (although this question is about getting a new photo) http://travel.state.gov/passport/pptphotoreq/photofaq/photofaq_5291.html

Q. Do I need to take a new photo if I recently dyed my hair a new color or grew a beard?

A:New photos are only required if your appearance has significantly changed from what is in your photo. Growing a beard or coloring your hair would not constitute a significant change. If you can still be identified from the photo in your current passport or visa application, you do not need to apply for a new passport or submit a new photo for your visa application. However, you may have to apply for a new passport or submit a new photo for your visa application if you have:

  • Undergone significant facial surgery or trauma
  • Added or removed numerous/large facial piercings or tattoos
  • Undergone a significant amount of weight loss or gain
  • Made a gender transition

The acceptance of your photo is at the discretion of the U.S. passport agency where you apply for a passport or U.S. embassy or consulate where you apply for a visa.

The way I understand it is this, it doesn't matter if you have been in a relationship for 20 years or 2 months, uscis needs proof that you have actually met face-to-face sometime within the past 2 years.

No, the requirement is you met and filed the 129-F before 2 Years after you met. After that, they want proof of a continuing relationship.

ThAnk you everyone for the help! Now I have another problem. I didn't put date on the letter of intent beside my signature..Is it really necessary to put date or should we just continue the filing since the letter has date on the upper left part already?

Nope, no such requirement. Requirement is having MET within the past two years, you could have met last week and filed today.
