Hello All,

We have also received similar notice, saying that it has been approved, but it also says that " THE ABOVE PETITION HAS BEEN APPROVED AND FORWARDED TO LISTED COUNSULATE. PLEASE CONTACT THE COUNSULATE WITH ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT VISA ISSUANCE."

And as discussed by friends in the thread it does have an expiry date ,I am sure it is NOA2. Can you please suggest.

Thanks

It's the NOA2 when you say i797!! otherwise would be I797-C (NOA1). Also when their website shows Approved, means approved!

I-797C is your NOA1

I-797 is your NOA2

they then forward your case from USCIS office to the NVC (national visa center)

you will get a case number (usually first 3 letters of case number are where the consulate is) example, my husbands was Ankara, Turkey so his case number was ANK##########

i got a letter when NVC received my case, thus assigning the case number, then i called to verify the date that NVC sent it to the consulate

after that steps 3 & 4 leading up to the interview (packages) were actually just emails with instructions and links to websites and paperwork, not sure if every consulate is like that

i got an email from consulate, filled out some forms, sent them to the hubs, he sent to consulate, they set his interview date, he did his medical, got his visa and now we are living happily ever after in the middle of his AOS (adjustment of status)

anything else i can help ya with just send me a note :)

CONGRATS !!

It is just the formal notification of what you can see online. Yes, this is the NOA2. The next step is for the USCIS to send your case file to the NVC (National Visa Center) for processing.

Unfortunately, the USCIS seems to be woefully inefficient. It took 7 months for my case to get the NOA2. It has been 3 weeks since it was approved and the NVC has not received it. According to the person I spoke to at the NVC, the USCIS has informed the NVC that time needed to transfer a case file is now 8 weeks instead of 3 weeks. ??!!! I don't understand why it takes 8 weeks to transfer a case file.

This is your NOA2. Now your case will be sent to the NVC and after a few weeks, forwarded to the correct visa. Call the NVC in a week or two to see if they have your case. You will be issued a new case number once it's processed at NVC. From now on, all contact will be with the embassy (after NVC forwards it on) and no action is required until then.

Congratulations!
