Congratulations, Neska2!

My spouse has applied for citizenship (we are in the 2018 February N-400 group).  We could have filed last April, but circumstances (my father was dying) kept us from getting our act together.  In fact, now, I'm glad, as we were able to apply online, which was SO much easier!

The current projection for her oath ceremony is next February, but it seems it is not taking that long for most...

I'm hoping, at some point, that the Bi-national couples group will no longer be necessary!  For those of us who were first through the gates, I'm hoping that the succeeding generations will appreciate our hard work!

So New York City is taking a year for an N-400 application? I had a sibling file for a N-400 in the Midwest and it took two months from start to Oath...wow..what a difference

I'm not New York City.  I'm out of Albany, New York.  And I don't REALLY think it will be a year - I just think that's how they cover their butts...

We just received written notice approval for Removal of Conditions, about 6 months after the expiration of our temporary green card.  In our July 17 group, we appear to be the first ones to receive the approval.  It almost seems like a mistake by USCIS since we never had an interview for AOS or ROC and we didn't expect this for another 6-9 months.  Someone here in a prior post mentioned that maybe this group broke new ground for others to follow.  It certainly took a lot of courage for all of us to face our first embassy interviews in countries that may not have been favorable to this new arena.  It doesn't mean that life is easy from this point forward, but at least the US Supreme Court allowed this change in our lifetimes.  We certainly appreciate the courage and advice from all of you.

The journey begins again. We have filed our ROC again, Jun 2,  after the error that was found last year, Jul 2017, of an incorrect expiration date on the conditional green card. We start the waiting now and hope for something good and quick. But are also ready for the slow wait. Our I-90 is still pending since Aug 2017 to correct the bad dates. But moving forward regardless.

We are waiting for an interview for citizenship.  We applied in February, had biometrics in March, and are now in that hurry-up-and-wait mode.  Can't wait for my spouse to finish her journey!!!

  • 2 weeks later...

Received our NOA today for our ROC. Hoping we are in a good loop this time. The notice is dated  15 June with a received date of 5 June...only 10 days. We even added a request for fee waiver which was approved. We are hopeful this is a good sign to a smooth ROC. By the way, the notice is now an 18 month extension.

We now have our new 10 year corrected green card in hand.  Out attorney submitted our N-400 this week.  It appears others have waited 5 months for this process to play out.  Doesn't seem to be a very long wait in the scheme of things since we started this entire process in August 2013.

My spouse has her Naturalization Certificate and her new US Passport in hand!  @Tcarrol - your N-400 process is totally dependent upon your local office.  For example - we live in the Hudson Valley in New York, and it was six months for us.  If you live in Houston, New York City, Brooklyn, Newark, NJ, and other big cities, it can take over a year.  If you live in a small area like Southern Illinois, you might be approved in 5 months, but they only do oath ceremonies 4 times a year.

So you need to really compare what happens at your office only.

Congratulations @Tcarrol & @Sukie . I can attest to how nice it is to be done with forms, notifications, and endless waiting.

@Tcarrol I hope you have a short wait for the final step. We are in S Florida and it took us about 11 months for my husband's naturalization (Nov. 2016 to Oct. 2017). Hopefully things are a little quicker for everyone nowadays.

Best wishes.
