Still no GC or welcome letter 2 months after interview

Hi everyone, I have been stressing about this for a few weeks now so I thought posting here would help me share my experience and maybe calm my nerves if some of you have gone through the same thing.

I came on an F-1 visa in Aug2008, married a USC in July 2012. Student visa expires Jun2013.

I went for my AOS interview on April 23rd,2013 here in Chicago. Our interview was fairly simple, just basic questions like DOB, Address, when we met, when we got married etc... I had made a huge wedding album with pictures and she didnt even ask to see those. Should I have offered? It sat in my purse the whole time. After about 5 or 10 minutes the officer stated that we were approved and that I would get my welcome letter in the mail in two weeks and then my GC two weeks after that.

She took both of our passports, left the room (I think to make copies) and then came back and handed them back. There are no new stamps in my passport and she did not keep my I-94. She didnt give us any official documents saying that we were approved, even though she said it verbally.

We received the Form I-130 that says "application approved" two days after the interview but it is dated April 23rd (the same day as the interview). It has been almost two months and still no welcome letter or green card. My online status has not changed from "Interview and Testing" either....

Why is it taking so long? We've had at least 3 other couple friends that have gone through the same process. One of them was a week behind us in the process, had their interview the week after we did and they already got their GC... about 4 weeks after their interview.

Should I do something about this? Call someone? Why would we have to wait so long and my friends not? Are we really approved? Am I freaking out? Do I just need to wait a little longer? Please let me know what you think...

As Harpa said, you will need to make an Infopass at the local office where your interview was conducted and enquire as to why your approval has not been formally processed; you will not be able to do anything of worth over the phone.

I had a similar issue, the officer said I was approved but I received nothing in the mail at all and my online status did not change. My lawyer happened to be at the same office on unrelated business and enquired about my case then, and was told that the officer was "behind on his approvals" but would "get around to it".

It took about a month to formally receive my approval, despite the officer verbally stating that I was approved at the interview.

They must've not understood you. Looking at cases from Oct 2012 means they are looking to approve them or schedule interview. Yours was already "looked at". You had the damn interview. rofl.gif That's why it's a waste of time to call the CIS 800 number. They are just humanized robots doing a search and reading from uscis.gov website basically.

Make an infopass. Why did you wait so long Most of the people here would be at Infopass on the 15th day after the intreview.

My wife and I are in the exact same situation almost to the letter. We were married in July 2012 and our interview was 2 months ago. We were told by the officer that everything looked great (she actually said we brought more evidence than she usually sees) and we would hear something in 1-2 weeks. After 2 months we have heard nothing other than the I-130 being approved and our status on the website has not changed. I finally made an Infopass appointment today for next Wednesday and we are going to make the 3 hour drive over and see what the hell is going on. I suggest you also go the Infopass route and good luck.

did you get any paper stated that you were approved? Normally if you are approved on spot, the officer should give you an approval paper and get the i94 away from you. I think you should make an infopass, don't just call them.

What does everyone else have to say about this? Did everyone on here that was approved get an approval paper at the interview and got their i94 taken away?

Argh, I was interviewed yesterday and was approved (IO kept my I-94), still my online status hasn't changed. I'm glad I read this post. I'm going to make a note in my calendar to make an info pass if I don't hear from them after two weeks.

My I-94 was taken away, but I did not get an approval paper. Is that unusual?

What does everyone else have to say about this? Did everyone on here that was approved get an approval paper at the interview and got their i94 taken away?

Hi everyone, I have been stressing about this for a few weeks now so I thought posting here would help me share my experience and maybe calm my nerves if some of you have gone through the same thing.

I came on an F-1 visa in Aug2008, married a USC in July 2012. Student visa expires Jun2013.

I went for my AOS interview on April 23rd,2013 here in Chicago. Our interview was fairly simple, just basic questions like DOB, Address, when we met, when we got married etc... After about 5 or 10 minutes the officer stated that we were approved and that I would get my welcome letter in the mail in two weeks and then my GC two weeks after that.

Our story is similar too. We had our interview a week after yours April 30th (NYC field office) and everything seemed fine, it's past 60 days now and we haven't heard anything not even an approval for the I-130 yet. We've have scheduled an infopass for the end of next week to go find out what the hell is taking them so long. Make an infopass too and I suggest you contact your congressman also, this will increase pressure on them to do something.
