my wife had an interview few weeks ago and was told to bring a corrected Marriage certificate. my current marriage cetificate states that I was single which is not true and all the documents that I provided to the consulate states that I was divorced. the 221(g) she was given states:

further action in your case has been suspended under section 221g. as amended pending the receipt and review of the information and missing documents. upon receipt of your response . we can continue to processing your appllication.......... bring the required documents with a passport between 1:30 and 0300pm monday through thursday.........

I cannot really wait for my wife to come and joint me. so I need to change the certification of marriage to stated divorced instead of single. how long does it take to get this fix in the moroccan court? after submitting my the needed document, what is the waiting time before they call back for the visa? did any one had something like this happend. please share your thoughts and ideas

We needed our marriage contract corrected too, but we did that before we even submitted the paperwork. I noticed it was incorrect a few days after we had it done. We went to the Adoul that did the contract and he wrote a correction that referred to the contract. So when we submitted the paperwork i just included that correction that he wrote and had notarized. If i remember correctly, that didn't take long at all. probably just a week or so.

No, the issue with ours was related to my job. At that time I worked in customer service and they put Customs Officer. So that was the correction they made. We have never had any issues with it, no RFEs, no issues at the consulate. My husband received his visa right away and is now a US Citizen.

thank you so much for your answers you helped me a lot. when I went to the adoul to get a different marriage certification he told me that I cannot change the certification but I can correct it by adding another form that states what's wrong and what's right...do you think having the correction form that states divorced + actual marriage certification that states single would be all they need? thanks

Yeah, that's exactly what they did for us. They couldn't correct the actual contract but they gave me another page that mentioned the contract and I sent the contract and that other page (had both translated to english) in our packets. The consulate never had a problem with it.

thank you so much. mine is a little bit complicated because I have to change the status from single to divorce... unfortunately they don't accept marriages in other countries, t has to be in accordance with the shariah law. so I am trying with the court to get them accept my previous marriage and divorce first before changing my status..... anyway a lot of headache and the system is so slow but you also get different opinions from the some courthouse. the oudol has to take all that to the court it cannot just be him. how long did it take you to fix your problem? I have been trying to fix it now for few weeks without success but I am still trying

My wife got denied in Casablanca for a reason that should never happened. she was told to go back, bring the corrected marriage certification and come back with the right paperwork and was given 12 months to get it corrected.
I am divorced but on our Moroccan marriage certificate my status is mentioned as single. my family back home is trying to fix the problem in the courthouse but without any success so far. I hired a lawyer to fix the problem and get the form corrected or modified but i did not work! (he is still working on it)
Anyways my question is, what s next now? is anyone ever had a similar situation or anything similar to this? do I need to travel back to Casablanca and get a new certificate by divorcing and remarrying my wife again!!!???? what should we do now? I am completely lost and I don't know what to do

Ok, so you weren't denied, you were asked for a correct marriage certificate.

why was it listed as single and why is it being so hard to fix?

Why do you need to divorce and remarry, Can you just go to Casa and get it fixed?

good luck

You've been given a chance to fix this in Morocco.

The chance still exists, the IV Unit has given yer wife 12 months to submit.

If I were in yer shoes, I'd make sure I had enough bribe monies to pay the registrars and get it re-issued.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
