Called the NVC today. FedEx says they got my AOS package last week, and IV package earlier this week. NVC says nothing is in the system yet, but can take 20 business days. Should I be worried?

No. As stated in the FAQ, the operators won't see anything has been received in their systems until AFTER the review has begun. Until then, they won't see any packages being received.

Our request to expedited was granted and the packet's in transit to the embassy in Malaysia. any idea how I can check its progress and whether i can do the vaccinations at a different doctor before going to the panel clinic since they won't do the exam without an interview letter.

Congrats!

Give it a couple of days, then call up DOS to see if the embassy has received and entered your case. Once they have, then contact the embassy for further instructions.

Yes, you can do vaccinations elsewhere. Just bring the vaccination records to the panel physician for the medical.

They may be holding the file with many others until they have enough to send in one batch to NVC.

They may be holding it because they marked it for retention (probably by mistake) and will send it to NRC. This would probably cause even longer delay.

The service requests can take weeks to get a response.

When you call USCIS, you should request to talk to Tier 2 immigration officer. They might be able to tell you why the file is still at CSC.

If not, and you are close by, you should try to do an info pass to the office where the file is to investigate yourself.

If not, you should contact your congressional representatives for help. They have staff that handle these cases, and they can contact the office on your behalf to get the case moving.

In the meantime, since it's been 30 days since your NOA2, you should also contact NVCINQUIRY@state.gov

and send them scanned copy of your approval notice along with

* Name of the person submitting the inquiry

* USCIS receipt number

* Petitioner's name and date of birth

* Principal Applicant's name and date of birth

Unfortunately, there have been quite a few people with such delays.

Fortunately, you can read their stories here on VJ (even this thread) and see what all they have done to resolve this issue.

Dos Hotline.

You are asking for casefile status, one of the magical timeticks to listen for is 'casefile opened'.

When you hear that timetick, the IV unit has the file, has logged the file, and has opened the file, and it's possible for the IV unit to 'go forward' with more stuff, once they've opened the casefile.

Prior to that timetick? That casefile is in limbo.

re: examinations - sorry, no clue.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Hi Darnell!

Thanks, we checked with the embassy and they've received our file. I got an interview date, it'll be Aug 1st! Enough time to get everything done. Thanks so much for your help!

Get the IIN from an operator (ask for the 'Invoice Identification Number', not IIN). If you are doing online forms (check eligibility in the first post), also ask for the Beneficiary Identification Number (BIN).

Could someone tell me if an invoice identification number is necessary for K1s with beneficiary in China?

When I got my case number on the phone from NVC today I asked if I needed an invoice identification number and the woman had no idea.

Does anyone know if China K1s need this?

For the K1 process, the NVC is nothing more than a mail stop. All the NVC will do is assign a case number to the file and send the file on its way.

Invoice Identification Number is not applicable to K1 cases because no fees are paid to the NVC (regardless of country).

Thanks, Ryan. Does the same go for the Beneficiary Identification Number (BIN)?

Yes, the BIN is only needed for online forms, which is only available for certain countries, China not being one of them. But regardless, online forms at NVC are only available for IR-1/CR-1 applicants and their derivatives. Whatever you've read in posts 1 and 2 do NOT apply to you. This forum is for IR-1/CR-1 applicants, not for K1s.

As you're a K1 applicant, here's your forum: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/80-k-1-fiancee-visa-process-procedures/

I received an email today with this statement:

We have reviewed the documents which you submitted in support of an application for an immigrant
visa. Please review the information listed under each applicant's name and provide any documents
which are indicated as missing or need additional information. You must submit the required
information. Failure to provide the requested information will delay your immigrant visa interview.

______CORRESPONDENCE INSTRUCTIONS:_________________________________
When responding to the National Visa Center, please include the bar code sheet that came with this
letter. Failure to include the bar code sheet may cause a delay in the processing of your case. The bar
code sheet should be placed on top of all documents being submitted for this case and mailed to the
address provided.

______1 - IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART 1:_______________________
The National Visa Center is waiting for an Immigrant Visa Application to be submitted for this case.
The Principal Applicant and any other Applicants who will be accompanying him or her to the United
States must now download and complete an Immigrant Visa Application; please visit the following
website for instructions:
http://immigrantvisas.state.gov (click on the link for "submit Visa application and civil documents")
Please submit the Immigrant Visa Application form(s) and required supporting documents for each
Applicant in one package to the National Visa Center; sending this information separately will delay
your visa.

Now, I sent the AOS package first, it was received on 6/18. The DS230 (IV) package was sent and received on the 24th. I am positive that I included everything in the DS230 package

I called the NVC, and the representative said that the letter I received was nothing to worry about, and that it just meant that they had looked at my AOS package, and not my IV package, and that this letter was requesting the IV package to be sent.

I do not want to have any additional delays...does anybody have any other thoughts on this?

Also...I didn't make any photocopies of my AOS or IV packages...would that be a problem during interview time?

That looks like a false checklist to me based off them reviewing (and accepting) your AOS package. You can always call up again to confirm.

And although it probably won't be requested at the interview, it's still ALWAYS a smart idea to photocopy anything you send in, and this doesn't just apply to the immigration process, but whenever you send in forms or payment. Too late now though...
