Help! Need a Lawyer!

Hi VJ community. I come here once again but this time to ask for a different kind of help unfortunately.

I married my husband at beginning of this year (he is the USC) and unfortunately till now I don't think things are working well.

During this year I found out that he has done things on my back previous my arrival in US. Like contacting women on the internet for casual sex (he said he did not sleep with any of them), checking ads of escorts, etc among other things (I have the proof).

His behavior has not been normal and he never apologized for what he did, he always said that what he did "maybe was wrong". When I showed him the proofs he blamed me, he said that I dont trust him and things like that.

In the last weeks he has been saying things that dont make sense (for no aparent reason).

What is more weird is that when I arrived at the POE in Miami, the inmigration officer sounded reluctant about him. Right then I did not understand anything what this officer was trying to tell me but He kept asking me if I knew him, my then fiance, well and kept telling me that people show their real personality after the marriage. Now Im starting to think that maybe the inmigration officer had some information about my husband that I did not know. As I thought it was very suspicious that the IO kept saying this. Then he said that they can not say anything even if there is information in the system they are not allowed to give this info. That was the first sign that put me in alert mode and from there ALL was going down in my marriage.

FYI, I still did not receive the GC and honestly thats the last thing I worry about.

As soon as I divorce, I will go back to my country but I wanna know if someone can recommend a good but not so expensive lawyer in South Florida. I really don't know a thing of how the divorce process is in US. I just want to divorce him, I dont even want to fight for anything that he had/has. Just want to start with the divorce papers.

Any help will be appreciated. If you have any question feel free to ask.

Happy New Year to everyone.

Its seems pretty straight forward divorce, no kids etc. Go to your local courthouse and get the forms you need to file for divorce. You don't need a lawyer to do this. I don't remember how much it is but I believe it costs between $150 or $250 to file for a divorce. They will serve him the papers . After you will get a court date, filing this way is pro se meaning no lawyer.

You got married for better for worst and if you think this problem you have in your marriage is the worst you aint seen nothing in life yet

###### happens you dont just get married in a year and divorce were you two not ready before? this makes no sense to me

why do people joke with marriage?

ok am not saying anything wrong here, not on hi side either although i understand your feelings that some men are screw ups but have you both considered trying to make it work? dose he live in the state with you? in the same house? or is he in another country? and you finding out things online for a reason to divorce him? what if things aint as it seems to be?

my advice is to try and work it out first see what you both could do whats the rush in a divorce?

Nether one of you have answered her question, did you give a name of a lawyer or did I miss that in either post. I think that was what she asked and you both have judged another poster. As you both have stated stick to the question asked.

Judged not to be judged.

As the first response stated, if he's willing to be reasonable (i.e. sign without problems) then you won't necessarily need a lawyer.

I suggest you go to your local courthouse and ask about the forms required. Usually they'll give you the forms, or direct you to a website with the forms. You'll pay a filing fee to file the documents and not necessarily even need to get him served because if he's willing to co-operate, he'll just need to sign the forms.

There will be a waiting period most like but the clerks at your courthouse will explain it to you.

I know you said your GC stuff doesn't matter but I will mention a few things anyway. I would make an infopass appointment prior to leaving the country to withdraw your AOS application (take a written letter withdrawing) so that you tie up any loose ends. If you get your GC (without interview) prior to leaving then hand it over at the embassy in your home country on your arrival. Once you withdraw you will have about 30 days to leave. If you accrued any overstay prior to filing AOS and there was enough for a ban, then you will get a ban (only getting your GC approved with get rid of a ban), if there wasn't enough for a ban you may still have problems getting a visitor visa and if you are from a VWP country then you will most likely be unable to use that.

I'm sorry you're going through this. You will be okay.

I believe I did stick to the question asked, I'm helping her by telling her she can do it without a lawyer.

I don't think u av said anything wrong buh a great advice....marriage is not a childs play whereby u can jump into and later tomorrow u change ur mind over things....I'm not here to say stick back to ur marriage or not...buh if one throws an advice for a marriage to work I don't think there's anything wrong in that....marriage is two imperfection people coming together to work on perfectiveness....however this atimes aint easy.....I wish u well in ur decision

You are asking for a divorce because of internet viewing?

Unfortunately one of the things I found out he did was talking to some girl on the internet and inviting her to go to visit him in his house! (this was when I was in my country planning the trip after k1 visa was already approved). He was on the internet telling women that he was single and looking for a "serious" woman to start a relationship.

He lied to me MANY times (before wedding and after wedding). I believed in him and thought he would change. He is a pathological liar. I took me a long time to see this. He also had gambling problems. Spending the savings in gambling online. It was not just internet viewing, its was a thing after the other!

I have been thinking about divorce for a few months and thought he would change but I already have enough. I dont want to be the rest of my life fearing that everytime I'm gonna turn around he is gonna contact women in the internet to "go out". To me that is betrayal.
