Hi friends

My case is at NVC now.

My husband is the petitioner. He was not in USA for many years so he did't have job and did't pay tax.

I have a joint sponsor for my case and my husband filled I-864 form with zero income and zero tax.

I want to know, if NVC wants tax returns of my husband?

Did he do dumpster diving? Rob people? Where did he sleep? Free? How did he eat? Free? They want to know how somebody can live and eat without having an income. If your husband has huge savings, then show the bank statements.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

I told you that he doesn't live in USA. He will go to USA about 2 weeks later and will start his PHD course.

He lives in Iran now, so he was not in USA and he didn't have job.

Although we got a joint sponsor. now we want to know if NVC wants an explanation from my husband about having no income and no tax or not?

If your husband had a job ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD he needs to file US tax returns. The job does not need to be in the US for him to be required to file tax returns.

If he never had a job, anywhere, then he wasn't required to file taxes and he needs to submit letters explaining that.

Thank you guys.

What is the format of the explanation letter?

I started wotking in 2011 and gave them only one year tax return. For other two years i didnt because i was a full time college student with no job so as a proof i gave them my college transcript that shows my enrollement. If you'r husband was in a differ country then give them proof anything which is solid like his exit stamp from US on his passport and other stuff which shows he has been out
