Hi everyone,

It's been a long time since I've been on his site,I'm glad to be back though. Recently,I submitted my application for ROC and it's been returned back to me TWICE now. The reason according to them is 'the remittance you submitted has an incorrect or incomplete guarantee amount'. Also below in the green letter they sent me,it says "Your application/petition is being rejected for incorrect payee information. To ensure proper processing of your application/petition,please make checks and/or money orders payable only to Department of Homeland Security or U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services"

has anyone come across this kind of statement before pls I need help.I wrote a check for 590 dollars to Department of Homeland Security and they still returned it,I really don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Hi, I don't know if it helps, but when I mailed the AOS soon as I married, they send everything back to me with a rejection letter. I don't remember if was written anything about why they did reject my petition, but the reason was the check that I mailed. I mistakenly wrote the check for a month in advance. So I needed to print everything and mail the information again.

If you can't find anything wrong with your papers, you should call them and ask. I am sure they will give you a satisfactory answer.

Regards

:wow: They can be real sticklers! I have made a point to write, "U.S. Department of Homeland Security" as the payee on all of the checks that I have tendered to them thus far, and have had no issues.

YMMV

The money goes to USCIS first. They will then give the DHS their cut of the windfall ($85). You should write the entire check to USCIS ('U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services') or write two checks - DHS ('Department of Homeland Security' in full) for $85 and USCIS ('U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services') for $505...

... and see if that works. What do the more experienced VJers think of this?

I read online to NOT write DHS and to write the name out in FULL. Did you write it abbreviated?

From the USCIS website other information here on how to write checks/make payment:

The only other thing is that you wrote the wrong date (maybe wrong format or post dated?) or forgot to put on your alien number/reason on it?

What do I think? That that's wrong. The instructions state "U.S. Department of Homeland Security".

The only other thing is that you wrote the wrong date (maybe wrong format or post dated?) or forgot to put on your alien number/reason on it?

alien number/reason is irrelevant. The Memo section is more for your own records (or at work to write invoice numbers so I can prove I paid which bill)

This is interesting. It says the "payee" information is wrong which means you must not have written Department of Homeland Security or perhaps you did but it wasn't written neatly enough so they couldn't read it. Here are the payment instructions: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=3850a99ba78af110VgnVCM1000004718190aRCRD&vgnextchannel=fe529c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

Can you scan the check and blank out the numbers at the bottom and your name? would be interesting to see what they rejected.

From within the US, always make sure that cheques are made payable to "U.S. Department of Homeland Security" (as the instructions state); anything else runs the risk of being rejected, as you have found out.

Maybe it's the way you wrote out the dollar amount under the payee? I remember a property manager telling me that a rent check didn't go through once, because the tenant wrote something like 'sixteen ninety-nine' instead of 'one thousand six hundred and ninety-nine'. Just a thought.
