My husband and I have been married for four years and we haven't seen each other for 5 months. We are both getting discouraged and frustrated because we still haven't heard anything from the USCIS we put his papers in April 12, 2012 by the way. It's just hard trying to have a relationship through Skype? So my question is how do you guys cope with the seperation?

We try to connect as often as we can and I keep myself extremely busy and over tired so the time will pass fast and I can sleep :hehe:

I haven't seen my husband for 15 months now as traveling overseas is not an option I can do often with work. Remember... Skype is better then nothing. We spend four hours a day on it, and text when we are not on it. I too sleep through a lot of it when I am not talking with him as it does help pass the time. A good solid relationship will stand the test of time.

As my sweet one tells me, by missing each other more we are stronger... absence does make the heart grow fonder - and just imagine when he finally gets here and it is forever. Never to be separated again. The trying times will be so very worth it!!! (L)

*** Thread moved from CR-1 Progress forum to General Immigration Discussion -- topic does not involve a specific visa process. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

We have been married for 5 years and have known each other for 7 years.

In the past 5 years, I only see him in person once a year.

Almost everyday, we chat and see online.

The worst part is I am living in another country not where I was born.

Everything is totally different such as language, food, culture and people. :(

until now,I haven't seen my husband for 8 months.

3 more months later,I will see him again. (L)

Well, keep your faith during this hard time. You will see him soon. (F)

I never think temporary separation is a problem.

Maybe I am too independent and strong.

I also join community services and go to church often.

Keep myself busy and happy. Think everything positive not give up.

Cheer up! (F) (F) (F)

I have not been with my husband in person for 12 months. We skype, email and talk on the phone. It's difficult being without him but I keep telling myself it will be worth it in the end when he gets his visa.

My husband and I have been apart for 4 months at this time, and the longest time we were separated was a year. We don't know where we would be without Skype!

We often watch movies together (we co-ordinate them) and listen to music, he reads novels and poetry to me, or we play online scrabble together. And we both try to keep busy in our lives apart.

It is hard, but it will not be forever. It does bring us closer to one another, because we really do make an extra effort to communicate and listen to one another's feelings and concerns.

Hang in there- you are not alone :)

This is awesome and so true

We realize we are stronger for the wait time, separation and REALLY will appreciate being together in the end.

Well I agree it is difficult and discouraging at times. I have been married to my husband for 6 months and been seperated from him do to the distance for 4 months.... Being in this relationship for 2 years and having it be long distance is super hard.. I just try thinking that soon we'll be together...ANd keep myself preoccupied. With school, or family or friends.. I've never been the clingy type to want my bf or husband around me all the time so it helps... But when I go to bed at night, it gets lonely...Or when your having one of those days you just need a hug from that someone special from your life...

One day when your spouse is here you'll look back to this time and think wow I am glad its over....

My husband and I are married 2 years 7 months now and had known each other for 2 years before we got married. We talk & see each other every night on yahoo messenger for 1 hour(better than nothing) we text every spare minutes he has and also make quick calls just to hear each others voice. It's been 1 year since he came to visit me. There were times when I get discouraged but he was there keeping me up, always with a positive mind. Everything has its own timing. You will feel discouraged and frustated but don't let those feelings overcome you.

PD- September 17 2010

Interview scheduled for January 14 2013.

A person commited to a relationship willing to wait the time it takes to immigrate must be worth the wait.... thats what I tell myself.... or maybe just stay focused on the light at the end of the tunnel and hope the reward is as good as one hoped!
