You do not need a letter from your job for proof of the marriage. When you need the letter is when you file the affidavit of support. The letter would say that you work there and how much your yearly income is. You do not need to tell your employer what the letter is for.

Why would your employer carry any weight as to whether or not you are really married? Perhaps your boss knows about your marriage, and can sign an affidavit declaring they know the bona fides of your relationship? The letter from your employer just indicates your salary and when you began there. It is to be used for the Affidavit of Support.

It will seem weird to an officer that you would want to keep your marriage a secret unless you can explain. Perhaps you could get a joint back account, though? Or possibly joint bills or life insurance policies, etc., showing that the marriage is a real relationship? Look at the I-130 instruction booklet here: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-130instr.pdf . It should show you how to prove your relationship. You don't need everything in the booklet; but you should have some of the evidence under "What Documents Do You Need To Prove Family Relationship?" besides just a marriage certificate.

I just dont want any conflict at work i mean everyone knows he is in a relationship before i started working there they just dont know its me

You should have changed your W4's to say married. You'll be filing taxes as married (joint or separate).

Its a personal choice but I believe you should tell your boss. When people eventually find out (and they will) they will feel lied to and deceived, and they will wonder what special treatment you were given that they weren't aware of at the time simply for being married to him. They could also assume you married for visa purposes etc etc. It's just a huge mess. At least tell your big bosses and tell them you don't want it spread around the office.

Legally you do not have to report to your employer that you are married unless you are changing your tax status on your W-4. Also, depending upon the employee handbook, I would look at that to see if there are policies on this. Otherwise it is considered confidential information. Your employment letter will come from your human resources department, and only addresses basic employment information.

So you both work at the same place it seems. You may have a problem if your work place is against husband and wife working at the same place.

As others have said, you don't need a letter from them to say that you are married.

Moved from IR-1/CR-1 Process & Procedures to Adjustment of Status from Work, Student, & Tourist Visas. The way this section of the OP's first post is worded (primarily, use of the word 'evidence'), it would appear they are preparing to file paperwork for the husband to obtain a green card:

is it true that we need a letter from our job as evidence that we are married

Moved to this forum because it would be the AOS process from a work visa that would be pursued, not the spousal visa process.

A lot of companies have policies against immediate family members working together, particularly if one is a supervisor. I can understand why you would want to keep it secret. You don't have to tell anyone you're married, but if one of you supervises the other, you could end up in trouble when it's discovered.

For your AOS paperwork, the IO won't care if you didn't tell your boss that you got married. They just want to verify the income for the I-864. They might care if you didn't tell ANYONE you got married (family, friends, etc.)
