look, here is the deal with VSC...it is located in a very, very rural part of an already rural state....sort of like on the edge of civilization, the last outpost before the great darkness, the end of the road, where the sun don't shine no more, etc....you get my drift.

there is no way you could ever convince me that they can find competent employees there...I am sure they're good at something, like maybe building igloos or inbreeding...but paperwork obviously is not their forte.

plus, year last, they suffered great flooding (even Providence is disgusted with them) that cut off all their connections with the outside world, cut roads, no electricity, no communications....and they lost what little vestiges of civilization they had....not that in their inbred condition they actually noticed.

also, their broken computer system is totally, and I mean totally, beyond repair.

How many work there?....800 or so...?....we as a people would be better off putting all of them on permanent welfare, a station in life the local denizen are familiar and comfortable with, and moving the entire operation closer to civilization.....like Boston or someplace.

:o:lol:

For months, the VCS was running at about 140 days. Just as my wait reached 135 days, VCS times jumped to 150. Now it has jumped to 160+. I am a disappointed tax payer. Signed Powerless

145 days, and on second try as well so have been in the process a year. During our first filing, it was CSC that was about 6 1/2 months.

aam, how did you get your k1 approved in 81 days. When the rest of us are going on 150-170 days. I thought they processed these applications according when they are received.

And you have the nerve to tell us to hang in there.........

Chll out. The time it takes to process depends on MANY factors. You sound like you're blaming her. When you've been doing this for a year, both times beyond your 5 months, then you can start pointing fingers. Some people's applications will be straighforward, no translations, no high risk/high fraud countries, excellent proof, no previous marriages, and no kids, and no need to expedite. And then there's the rest of us.

Ummmmm yeah what a great example... My case is as per your description ....Shame it has nothing to do with the reason why some petitions are approved so early... On 179th day and counting...

I don't think mik2012 sounds like he is blaming anyone for being approved , just pointing out that that giving advice to hang in there when someone is approved in under 100 days is like a slap in the face... We have been hanging there for too long and advice like this from Someone who waited half of the time we do is just sad...

What does "touched" mean in your timeline? Thanks

create an account on USCIS and add your petition to it. You will see that it lists a last updated section. It indicates the last time someone physically handled your file..

Why haven't you contacted your congressman?

Nothing can be done until one reaches the 6 months point. I'm finally eligible for some help I hope. Although, the effectiveness of Congressman does seem to vary. I'll know in a few days if it's had any effect...

Just be aware that if you don't get a touch it doesn't mean someone isn't looking at your file. Unfortunately the online updates are inaccurate, sometimes they are updated, sometimes they aren't. :(

Totally agree and I absolutely "love" replies like this one:

when someone is approved within/around the 5 months time and tell others that their time will come... well we all know our time WILL come, we would like to know WHEN and also WHY some people are approved earlier for others having to wait 6months +!

I am not picking on you @Linds&Youssef , all I am saying is that this is so unfair that it makes me wanna scream!

I think they were clear on at least one thing. They explained that they put off more "difficult" cases until they double check all the details, meanwhile aprove the "easy" ones that follow. Therefore, it makes sense that some of the cases do net get aproved in the order sent. I am an April filer, and all I do is hope that our case will seem straightforward enough for them not to delay it in any way, but grant aproval immediately [wishful thinking]:-)

The Service Centers take turns at being "the slowest Service Center of them all". In September 2011, I filed my first petition. It took 6 months to hear from California. I just filed a couple more at California in April. It's been averaging about 3 months now which would put me at hearing something at the end of this month. I am very much aware that any day now (and for all I know, it may have already happened?!?!) things could switch and I could be back on the track to waiting 6 months!

No one knows what will happen, until it happens. It's an awful process and thank god we are (mostly) all strong enough to get through this!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

So given your vast experience in following what has been going on in both centers for a while, and have noticed all the changes occuring, I wonder if you were able to notice a specific trend (timewise), of how frequently speed tends to change? In other words, can you say something like a particular center usually slows down for this or that amount of time, and then speeds up usually for say this amount of months?

I so agree with you. CSC has already approved many March filers and others with older dates haven't even been looked at by VSC. As soon as mine reaches the 5month mark I'm calling my Congressman. Luckily I had already started the conversation with them. They said to call them back if I don't get my NOA2 by month 5. I agree this is so unfair. They should have ONE system that files are pulled from so that people who were just unfortunate to get VSC during their slow time don't get passed over because CSC is faster.

TOTALLY AGREE!!!

145 days, and on second try as well so have been in the process a year. During our first filing, it was CSC that was about 6 1/2 months.

Why do you guys file the second time? Is it even legal? What about the fee that you've paid - is it transfered or something?
