Embassy Review : Mark walked from Bond Street underground station to Brook Street (Grosvenor Square). He could see the line for Embassy from the park. While in line, he was greeted by a woman who asked about watch, belt, wallet, coins, and gave him a plastic bag to put it in for security screening. They checked passport and letter outside just before security screening and got his stuff back. WAs asked not to put his stuff on until he got to the next building (around the corner and up steps). There is a desk there, and they looked at the letter and gave him the pink form, and 3 stickers with the I-number on.

He took it upstairs, put on his stuff again and sat down. The room was fairly full with people blue forms (Non-Immigrant) forms He got through security and seated by 9:10, but waited nearly 2 hours to before being called up. An African American lady who couldn't decide between friendly or not. She didn't ask for most of the documents, but was truly interested was his divorce certificate, birth certificate, and wanted a certified copy and a regular photocopy, the police certificate, and the I-134, and didn't even look at the tax transcripts that were ready. She also took his passport and payment receipt.

She then took his fingerprints with a fingerprint scanner (no ink). If you do not push down hard enough, it does not register your finger is there.
The woman was a bit chatty, and charmed by a little girl that was singing "twinkle twinkle little star!"

He was then called back up within 20 minutes or so, where an American guy (late 20's or early 30's) who was also friendly. Mark was sworn in, double-checked his fingerprints, and checked his passport.

Questions asked:
How did you first meet?
When did you first meet?
How do you keep in touch?
How often do you do that and for long?
How old are you? your fiancée?
Does she have any children?
How old are they?
Where do the children live?
What are the names of the grandchildren?
What does your fiancée do?
How much does she make?
What do you do?
What will you do when you get there?
How much savings do you have?
Have you ever lived anywhere outside the U.K.
Have you ever lived in the U.S.A. because I see a divorce certificate from Texas (tried to trick him on MY divorce certificate)
How long have you been in this process? (we were denied once due to poor photocopies of divorce certificates and misunderstanding RFE), and when did you file this time

He also pointed out that Mark had a couple of young children without actually asking a question, so Mark commented on that as well. He asked if Mark understood he had to get married if this was granted. Mark said yes, that we had debated the getting married first, but chose this route. He then asked if Mark understood we had to get married in 90 days, and Mark said yes. He then asked if Mark was sure, and only after Mark affirmed after the third time that we had plans in November that he told Mark the visa was granted!!

The room was practically empty by the time he was done, where he paid the friendly lady for the courier. Mark wanted me to mention that the price for the courier goes from just over 14 pounds to 36 pounds, depending on how early in the day you want it delivered, but regardless of which method you choose, you will get it on the same day (unless you take the Saturday delay option) so why pay more?

Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
