January CSC Transfers

You can inquire about it, make an infopass appointment, put in a service request or involve the congressman however some cases do get delayed for whichever reason. Some have a loooong K1 journey and then AOS takes a year. Background checks are the one factor that may take much longer for some cases.

Personallly, I'd make an infopass appointment and ask at which service center the case is currently at, and why it is taking longer than the average processing time. Sometimes, it gets sent from CSC and back to a local office. Online status is not always reliable.

Which date was the AOS transferred to CSC?

Our Original K1 was very fast, almost amazing.

We filed my wifes AOS Oct 31 2011

EAD /and AP at the same time.

EAD and AP were approved in a couple months.

and the 485 was sent to the California service center.

Currently it shows as in *initial review*, and we have received no RFE's, etc.

nothing but silence, which is likely typical :)

This seems a long time now, but looking at the various tables I don't see the

general timelines to know if this is about right , or should we be getting more proactively involved?

I know the information is likely here, but I couldn't seem to find tables for the CSC that related

directly/exactly to family based AOS's.

and appreciate any replies on the expected time frame.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

Click timeline or "about me" for all details.

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

Timeline

Transfered in January.

I have contacted them with no real information obtained since that transfer.

It seems virtually impossible to get anything but a standard answer.Nothing specific to our case.

Calling the Senators office seems in order,

I was just hoping for some family based AOS time frames to compare.

Looking just in this thread 7 to 8 months seems average?

The AOS filing was Oct 31,2011, so we are basically 9 to 10 months out.

Thank you. I will make the info pass appointment, that does seems a great idea at this time. Our K1 was so fast it seemed bizarre.

Everything in the AOS is in order, and quite mundane. I see no reasons that could complicate it,but ther appointment might shake something up, or at least find out if they are processing it.

Yes, about 7-8 months but it depends where the case ends up. Usually, the ones with an interview have faster processing.

You're probably outside normal processing time however being outside of normal processing time is determined by when your AOS was transferred/received, not when you originally submitted it. Count from the transfer date and 180 days forth. If you're outside that, you may put in a service request. I do think most of the Oct-Nov-Dec filers have gone/will go beyond normal* processing time and if so, USCIS will just feed you a story about being backlogged. No matter what, I'd still encourage you to make an infopass appointment and ask about the status of your application + where it's at and then the service request.

*CSC has not posted their processing time regarding family-based AOS applications so we can only assume what the standard is by timelines on VJ, which is why you might run into a wall but it could have a positive outcome as well. Regardless, I hope you'll take the time to keep us posted about the infopass appointment or any other updates.

I finally received my Green Card yesterday!!!)))So, it has been 8 months since I applied. It is funny, that I received approval notice only today (after I received my Green Card), though it was dated August 3.

Good luck to everybody who is still waiting!!!

An infopass at your local office won't help if your case is at CSC. They won't be able to tell you anything. They can put in a service request for you, but you can do that yourself via the USCIS infoline. However lately it seems that service requests don't help much.

Your best bet is your representative.
