January CSC Transfers

If I were anywhere near a field office, I'd be there every day torturing them. If I did an info-pass I'd have to drive 6 hours to get to Memphis. Really guys??? I can't drive to Atlanta which is 2 hours away because it's in a different area, but closer to me. That makes perfect sense. It's like they try to make this process as frustrating as possible to see if people are really cut out for it. I always tell my husband if we make it through this, we can make it through nearly anything!

Total elapsed time between filing I-129F to GC in hand 569 days or 1 Year, 6 months, 22 days.

I wonder, has anyone here actually had any really good experiences (i.e. fast results) with the post-180 day service request to the CSC? Or luck with petitioning a congress person's office for help with the CSC? I just passed my 180 day waiting period (our case was transferred to CSC on January 23) and am wondering if its even worth it to go through the robots on the phone tree line with them and put in a request for expediting the process.

I'd like to know this as well. But unfortunately, USCIS is anything but transparent and there's no way of knowing that the application was adjudicated because of a service request, simply due to the fact that USCIS doesn't inform you about a congressman/service request being involved, or had an influence on anything.

Sometimes, it seems as if cases are looked at/decisions have been made within weeks of the service request/congressman involved but it might as well be a coincidence since it would be around that time for adjudication.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

Click timeline or "about me" for all details.

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

I didn't even bother with a service request. I went straight to the Congressman and Senate. I guess I'll be able to give you an answer in that regard. :)

My thinking...I read here how everyone puts in that service request and then has to wait for a reply that may arrive sometimes within 45 days. The whole reason most of us are contacting them is because of inaction, not because we like to continue to receive "we'll get to you whenever we feel like it" responses. So, I just skipped all the fluff. It'll most likely come back to bite me in the end. I don't recommend following my lead, btw.

I also sent in a congressman request a few days ago, through both representative and senator. They sent it immediately. USCIS responded with traditional stubbornness:

RE: I485

Hi [senator's representative],

All I-485 inquiries/expedite requests should include a privacy release form signed by the applicant. The attached privacy release form is signed by the applicant’s spouse, [the me]. Please resubmit the inquiry with a copy of the privacy release form signed by the applicant, [my husband, the immigrant].

Thank you.

Oh for cryin out loud. He and I are the only people who are allowed case status updates, but now I cannot do this? Sounds like bs. Anyway, got his signature and we're moving on, hopefully on to better things. Come on USCISsssssssss.

Since you aren't actually the "petitioner" (he is for the I-485), you can't technically request this information. It works the same way as a HIPPA would (you'd need a third party release as well for to obtain his health information).

What I did on the release I sent was signed and had my husband sign beside me, beneficiary and petitioner. That way they can't complain! You cover both grounds.

Glad you got it resubmitted! I wonder who'll get a response first, me or you, haha. I haven't heard anything back from my reps yet.

Six days after the congressional inquiry, we got notification my wife's AOS was approved. The response said we'd hear from them in 30 to 45 days, but the congressional aide said normally people hear in 4 or 5 business days. Worked for us, and those that get over 5 months and don't put in the congressional inquiry seem to be waiting longer than we did. Did our form just happen to come up? Its possible, but there seems to be too many that get action fast after contacting a congressman or senator. That is if your congressman or senator is any good.

I've already heard back from my congressman promising his support in any issues with the USCIS, so now I need to send the official release for them to speak on our behalf. I've already done that with the Senator but haven't heard anything from them yet. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Our congresswoman was much faster than our senator to. But there are only two senators per state and many congressmen. So the senator's office generally has more people to respond to.

Haha oh, you'll have to forgive me, I submitted it 7.5 MONTHS AGO!!!! I just assumed since 3/4 of the information was mine that it was okay :) Apparently not. Well it doesn't matter now, I'll be checking for a "touch" or some action this week. Good luck!

It is interesting that the USA spouse who's income the entire AOS is dependent on can't request information or even talk with them. When we would call USCIS on my wife's AOS, we always said I was her translator so I could speak for her. She felt more comfortable with me doing the talking with the customer service bots on the phones. Not that calling ever really helped, generally it gives more disinformation than valid information.

Indeed. That's always bothered me too in our situation. My husband is definitely the wall flower in our relationship and is much happier when I talk to people instead of him. In fact I did all his paperwork too.

I could see me calling and immediately scream "TIER 2 REP NOW. I DON'T WANT TO TALK TO YOU." That would be wrong though, right?
