Just wondering, what is the ratio of people having AOS interviews opposed to those who don't. What is the criteria USCIS looks at in order to let the interview slide? Just curiously hoping I am in the small minority.

December 8, 2010: Wedding date set; it will be on February 18, 2011!

July 30, 2011: Received NOA2 hardcopy in mail
August 8, 2011: NVC received file
September 1, 2011: NVC case number assigned
September 2, 2011: AOS invoice received, OPTIN email for EP sent
September 7, 2011: Paid AOS bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 9, 2011)
September 8, 2011: OPTIN email accepted, GZO number assigned
September 10, 2011: Emailed AOS package
September 12, 2011: IV bill invoiced
September 13, 2011: Paid IV bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 14, 2011)
September 14, 2011: Emailed IV package
October 3, 2011: Emailed checklist response (checklist generated due to typo on Form DS-230)
October 6, 2011: Case complete at NVC
November 10, 2011: Interview - APPROVED!!!
December 7, 2011: POE - Sea-Tac Airport

September 17, 2013: Mailed I-751 to CSC

September 23, 2013: Received NOA1 in mail (receipt date September 19th)

October 16, 2013: Biometrics Appointment

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

It seems to be about 50/50. There is no criteria. Sometimes it is because giving you an interview at your local office would be quicker than the processing through the CSC. Sometimes it is just completely random and perhaps to fill quotas for an interview ratio. One never knows. Hit or miss.

36.4% of K1s don't interview (VJ last 6 months)

Don't know the criteria. Maybe how backlogged the local office is. Maybe how recent the visa interview was. It's all a guess.

We got an interview after an expedited request, it was not big deal, but we were over prepared.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

I'm guessing you're asking regarding AOS through K1, right? I'd count on 50/50. Either you get an interview, or you don't. :D

I have not seen a clear pattern.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

I don't know what is the %, but I think it's just regular process to get your interview before getting the first Green card.

What I think is true is if you file AOS after 2 years of marriage,they give you green card for 10 years and there may not be an interview either,because the marriage is lasting long already

No it's not "regular process" from a K1 visa. From any other visa yes, from a K1 visa no. K1's have the chance to have the interview waived.

When we started the AOS process, I was hoping we wouldn't have an interview. Then we got the interview notice to appear March 1 and we were approved! As it turns out, it seems that people who get the interview end up getting the green card faster. It takes longer for those who don't have to appear for an interview. Pros and cons to both.

I agree, we have our itnerview tomorrow and it will be just under three months since NOA1. Does seem lately that cases transferred to CSC take longer. I'm actually glad we got scheduled for interview, lol

Finally time for AOS.......

12/07/11 Sent AOS package

12/09/11 AOS package delivered

12/14/11 Received NOA for I-485 and I-765 (we're not applying for AP)

12/22/11 Received letter for Biometrics

01/04/12 Biometrics in Phoenix

01/31/12 Received email update from USCIS saying that we've been scheduled for an interview

02/03/12 Got an email saying card production had been ordered for my EAD...now just to wait for the card...

02/09/12 Received email saying EAD card has been sent

02/13/12 Received EAD card :D :D :D :D

03/06/12 Interview in Phoenix :).....Approved :D

03/14/12 Received Green card in mail.....

....no more USCIS until December 2013
