Is that really the case I thought government agencies were not closed on Easter and that christmas was the only religious holiday they were closed.

Federal law (5 U.S.C. 6103) establishes the following public holidays for Federal employees. Please note that most Federal employees work on a Monday through Friday schedule. For these employees, when a holiday falls on a nonworkday -- Saturday or Sunday -- the holiday usually is observed on Monday (if the holiday falls on Sunday) or Friday (if the holiday falls on Saturday).

I stand corrected, they will work on that Friday, but NOT that Monday.

I gather no-one has received an interview date yet (out of those of us who were waiting for it last week)?

Out of curiosity, is there any reason to believe that calling daily will get me the news any faster? Or am I likely to receive the interview letter the day they book the interview anyway?

But Easter is not listed so it seems like they won't be closed at all. That paragraph is only referring to the holidays listed below it, specifically New Year's, Veteran's Day and Washington's b-day in 2012.

Keep in mind, if sending tax returns instead of tax transcripts, then you have to include W2s as well as ALL schedules and worksheets.

What if we don't have those? We only have a foreign income. there are no W2's, only f2555 attached that shows foreign income.

in fact, those IRS transcripts have no value for us, as we're both foreign based. we can only show assets.

Then make it 1040 + 2555. That's what I gave to the embassy yesterday for 2011 taxes. However you should be aware that the NVC might request tax transcripts. It happened before, and whether they make you eligible to be a sponsor or not is not relevant for them.

You can order the transcripts online from the IRS website and they'll send them to the latest address on file, so if you've been filing from abroad giving your address in Belgium, they'll send them there. Ours took about 3 weeks to arrive to France.

Beyond frustrated. Apparently, even though I was able to fill out and submit the DS-261 last Thursday before my SIF, they haven't requested my choice of agent yet??? And there's no system problem holding up any invoices but I'm free to call back next Monday if I haven't received anything by then???

Ya, my log in said The next step is to file DS-261 Choice of agent blah blah blah.. some one needs to check their e-mail and push the button to get us going. It's getting beyond ridiculous.

You can definitely find out the interview date faster if you call. Mine was scheduled sometime Friday, found out in the early afternoon. I only got the email though early Saturday morning. If you don't care about waiting an extra few hours or days, then there's no need to call. There's not even a need to call NVC. The only reason it's suggested is so you can stay on top of your case.

Oh, if you have foreign income, then it doesn't matter. My bad!

And you have a house in the US already?
