Some of you know that our AO in Pittsburgh gave us an email address with which we could communicate with them regarding the FBI namecheck. It has been 204 days since the AOS interview and we are still without final approval. We need to re-file for EAD within the next few days because of this delay - another $180 bucks.

I sent a mail yesterday asking if this was really going to be necessary. I received this terse reply:

"The Security Checks on your husband's case are currently pending. Please refer to the attached document for information regarding Security Checks.

In order to extend his employment authorization authorization he must file form I-765 with fee and requisite supporting documentation to: U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, P.O. Box 805887, Chicago, IL 60680-4120. Please allow a minimum of 90 days for processing. Please visit www.uscis.gov for the form and instructions."

The "attached document" was this (for those of you who haven't seen it - I've got it memorized by now).

http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/publicaffair...hecks_42506.pdf

This response actually caused a hot rush to go up my back and I was truly MAD. An emotion I've not experienced before with immigration. I've been upset, frustrated and just generally tired of it all, but this truly made me see red.

Guess they are tired of being nice to us. What do they care - it's not their life, right?

That stinks.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

I sometimes think that in this process the innocent are the ones being punished with long delays and copy & pasted responses for doing things right while the guilty are allowed to walk free from it. It sickens the life outta me, I hope that I don’t end up stuck in a similar fashion!

Good Luck! :D

Rebeccajo,

Sorry to hear they are still doing background checks on Wes, its about time they gave you guys a break and got it sorted.

Its real sad that you have to re-apply for EAD and pay them more money just to try and keep your life as normal as possible, when they have the power to sort things and put an end to this frustration you must be feeling.

I wouldn't want to give you advice, especially bad advice, but if it were me I would say screw it and not bother with another EAD and just keep working. Seems they forgive this problem at the end of the AOS. You have tried to play fair and they keep dragging their feet or something. Anyway you are getting screwed.

I'm very tempted. It's $180 bucks that would be better spent on something else...like say food or gasoline.

I'm just really getting tired of this. I've been willing to play by all the rules and put up with all the bull. We are coming up on 18 months of wallowing around in this ####### they call 'legal immigration'.

No wonder people climb walls and dig tunnels.
