By Reader's Digest Magazine | Pets – Fri, Dec 2, 2011 4:48 PM EST

Hunch.com recently polled more than 200,000 pet owners to find out if they were dog people or cat people. The site then crossed those responses with lifestyle surveys and arrived at the following conclusions. Anything sound familiar?

Dog people: 15% more likely to be extroverts

Cat people: 11% more likely to be introverts

Dog people: 36% more likely to use a pop song as a ringtone

Cat people: 14% more likely to cling to friends at a party

Dog people: 67% more likely to call animal control if they happen upon stray kittens

Cat people: 21% more likely to try to rescue stray kittens

Dog people: 11% more likely to say they'd support cloning, but only for animals or pets

Cat people: 17% more likely to have completed a graduate degree

Dog people: 18% more likely to consider Paul McCartney their favorite Beatle

Cat people: 25% more likely to consider George Harrison their favorite Beatle

Dog people: 9% more likely to think of zoos as happy place

Cat people: 10% more likely to send messages on Twitter

Dog people: 30% more likely to enjoy slapstick humor and impressions

Cat people: 21% more likely to enjoy ironic humor and puns

Both dog and cat people:

- Talk to animals of all kinds

- Are equally likely to have a four-year degree

- Dislike animal-print clothing

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

I don't understand the comparison in these three. Seems totally random.

Dog is man's best friend. Cat is man's best paperweight.

Outside of a dog, man's best friend is a good book. Inside of a dog, it is too dark to read.

---

The neighbor peered over his fence and saw Little Johnny tearfully filling in a hole in his yard. "What's the matter, Little Johnny?" the neighbor asked.

"My goldfish died," sniffed Little Johnny, "and I'm burying him."

"Sorry to hear of your loss," said the neighbor. "But why is that hole so large for a goldfish?"

"That's because he's inside your CAT!" Johnny said, as he patted down the last shovelful of earth.

---

The neighbor saw little Johnny dressed in a fireman's outfit, complete with little red hat, sitting in a red wagon being pulled very slowly by a dog. One rope was tied around the dog's neck, the other rope around his private parts.

"Wouldn't your fire engine go faster if you tied that second rope around the dog's neck, too?" asked the neighbor.

"Yeah," said Little Johnny. "But then I wouldn't have a siren!"

Apparently I'm neither dog nor cat, but Alex is definitely a cat person. Have to suspect he was one of the people surveyed...

Since my son is highly allergic to cats, so much so that even if a kid in his class has a cat and sits in front of him in class he sneezes all day long. He gets allergy shots every week for the past 18 months, has been to hospital, developed asthma, because his pill popping mother thought that by buying a kitten it would help build up resistance to them. I despise them, loathe them, hate them and they kill too many songbirds. They're an invasive species to the USA, get them all the hell out of here!

I grew up having dogs for pets. I myself had an English Springer Spaniel for hunting, up until a few months ago. He was a great dog, very well trained and obedient. Now that he's gone though, I don't miss one bit not having to vacuum dog hair everyday or going out to clean up his ####### each time.

We had outdoor dogs when I was a kid and they were great. Visla's ...a bird dog that are great with kids. I haven't had a pet since then but the now wife brought her cat with her from Belarus and I noticed cats are far easier in regards to up keep. Just keep the litter box clean and the cat pretty much takes care of the rest. If you want to go somewhere for a few days, np...load up the cat food and water and your good to go...no having to let the cat out to do it's thing. And up here that's a biggy for the fact it gets so cold up here during the winter.

Dogs have owners ... Cats have servants

Dogs think they are human ... Cats know they are God

Dogs like chasing cats ... Cats like running through small gaps while being chased by big dogs that suddenly find they don't have enough stopping distance.

Don't interrupt me when I'm talking to myself
