I suppose it's only cheating if you break the rules. Each couple can set their own rules as to what constitutes infidelity.

There's another thing called "emotional cheating".

I say we are human. There's really attractive people out there aside from your partner but I'll take a quote from Pearl S. Buck's My Neighbor's Son - "You cannot make yourself feel something you do not feel, but you can make yourself do right in spite of your feelings."

Happy New Year!

Is flirting a form of cheating?

Many think so. (I think so)

When in doubt, ask yer local parish priest for an interpretation.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I think for me the most disturbing part would be that my partner did not respect me and care for me enough to knowing that it would cause a lot of damage to us and our relationship. It would not matter if the cheating was physical or emotional. I would not want to be with a woman who does not respect and value our relationship equally.

I think there's a difference between harmless flirting and "flirting".

I often harass the UPS man (god love a man in brown) at work but it's totally just a huge running joke between us that makes my staff, customers, and my fiance laugh. I always tell my fiance about any good "lines" we give each other, and he and the UPS guy have a running joke about fighting for my adoration...:innocent:

This running joke started before my fiance and I got together, and he's always known about it. It's not a scandalous secret that I hide and have intent to "follow-through" with any of my ~flirtations~.

I think if it was something my fiance had issue with or something I was doing behind his back or with the *intent* to do anything aside from just joke around--- that kind of flirting would be cheating. I respect my fiance enough that if something bothered him I would stop but he even says things like "Tell ---- I'm going to kick his butt next time I come up there!" and then the UPS guy says something back and so on.

Anyway, I suppose my point is that you need to have good communication and know what each others boundaries are and respect them. I can see how harmless flirting/joking around could cross barriers in other relationships but it all depends on the people and the relationship.

Once upon a time, harmless flirting was known by the other label, of 'social interaction'.

IMO, 'harmless flirting' is an oxymoronic label.

It depends on the culture. My wife being Asian, thinks saying hello to a member of the opposite sex is flirting. Being from Northern California, we tend to hug and even kiss on the lips when greeting and saying good-bye. Flirting for me and my friends would allow a deliberate grope, and some tonsil tickling. Anything beyond that would definitely be cheating.

I once heard a definition of cheating that was pretty cool....it was, if your partner was there, would you feel ashamed?

Or "would you feel her hands around your neck strangling you?"

Alla gets upset if I read posts from other members that post photos of their wives  It is OK to post HER photo.

Cheating would not be acceptable, to say the least.

Whenever I'm a few minutes late getting home from work, I freely tell Mrs. T-B. that I was with the rubias (my six fictitious blondes), si man.

Earlier this week, Mrs. T-B. handled her own emergency car repairs with great aplomb when I was slammed at work and couldn't help. I told her that I was proud of her, and that at least two of the rubias couldn't have accomplished what she had, no man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

What an awful, hurtful "joke." How very Latin of you. Does anyone actually know a Latin man that hasn't cheated - emotionally or physically? Just wondering.
