I am considering taking a cruise for our honeymoon. I have had people tell me both sides that we can, and can not travel outside the US once married. I know that we can apply for travel parole but who knows how long that process takes. I have also had a few people tell me she is free to leave/return to the US with me (such as honeymoon) as long as we have not changed her AOS until after out honeymoon. Can anyone shed some light on this?

We actually looked into this because we wanted to go on a cruise as well. But No, as far as we have been informed, she cannot leave the country while the case is pending. An AP will take some months. We gonna go to Hawaii instead. That way we will not risk anything!

Good luck!

them few people were wrong. Sorry.

Cruises are a totally different thing, really, as once yer on the boat, you've left the usa, can't get back in with an invalidated K-1 visa stamp (which was done at the POE, the first time she came in, alas)

unless it's a 5 day Riverboat Cruise, on the Mississippi or Colorado Rivers.

Suggest you study up a bit on passport control for cruises, know when and where in the journey the exit stamp is issued, also the entry stamp.

Until Advance Parole is issued and in her hand she cannot reenter the US.

The K1 is a single use visa. It is invalid as soon as she enters the US at her initial POE.

As others have stated, check with the cruise operator regarding passport requirements.

Keep your honeymoon inside the US and you will have no issues.

You will have no problem leaving, only a problem returning.

The United States is a vast country with 50 states, reaching from Alaska to Hawaii. On top of that we have the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam. If you can't find a cozy place for your honeymoon where tens of thousands people from all over the world travel to spend their honeymoons, you must be looking for something very unusual. It can't be polar bears, as we have those. It can't be vulcanos, as we have those as well. You can even do a mountain bike downhill run in Hawaii! It can't be dolphins and white beaches with turquoise water, as we have plenty of those too. It can't be mountains, as we have those. Maybe it's camels? We don't have camels in the U.S.!

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.
