Almost everyone on VJ have done it by themselves without a lawyer. Thats what VJ is FOR its a self help website.

Do not use a lawyer if you have no red flags. Do it by yourself and save your money and your application. There are many horror storys of people who thought using a lawyer would be great and easy but it turned into a nightmare that they are still trying to resolve and lost a lot of money.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Visa Journey is the best hands down!!!

There are a lot of people here with the knowledge and actual experience that lawyers just do not have, people on here actually care, where as all a lawyer cares about is getting your money.

If you have ANY questions, you can ask it and people will answer OR more than likely, you can search for the answer to any questions you have because I guarantee about 10 other people will have asked it and there will be a stock of answers for you.

Like people have said though, if your case isn't straight forward then legal advise/help is advisable - but if you follow the guides on here properly then you do not need a lawyer!!!!

From the VisaJourney homepage (this message only appears if you are not logged in):

"We provide a variety of information helpful in filing your US immigration forms (I-129f, I-130, I-140, I-485, etc.) in our Immigration Guides, FAQ's, Forums, Example Forms, Timelines and other areas. As always, we encourage the use of a qualified immigration attorney as this site is no substitute for the valuable advice a good attorney can provide!"

None of us knows the details of your case. In fact we can't know the intimate details of anyone's case. I don't believe it is our job to tell you whether or not you should seek legal counsel. Many people on VJ will discourage legal counsel, simply because this is a DIY site.

Personally, I believe everyone should have a consultation with a QUALIFIED, EXPERIENCED ATTORNEY WHO PRACTICES FAMILY BASED IMMIGRATION. Not your friends lawyer who drew up his will; not the high-powered lawyer in town whose name you know because he's a killer divorce lawyer; and not even an attorney who practices IMMIGRATION FOR EMPLOYERS.

We consulted with a specialist in family immigration before we began our journey. He was a busy guy who had State Department experience and had been filing K's and IR1's/CR1's for years. We went over the details of our case (including the consular phase) and he basically told us we didn't need him. A good qualified specialist won't take cases they don't need. They are too busy for them.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

it's really just paying attention to all that you need, double triple quadruple check everyhting...just to make sure you don't get any rfe's and being organize.I really don't think you need a lawyer unless you have had any immigration problems...but if you're just like many of us on here you should be fine doing it yourself. and of course if you understand englich well could be something to....moreover if anything you have visajourney to help you with any question you might have...good luck...don't hesitate to ask any questions regarding your application on here...Good luck!!!

You do not need a lawyer if your case is pretty straight forward. Follow the guides on VJ meticulosly and you will be fine.

If you are a busy person and have the cash then you can consult a lawyer but why not keep the money for AOS down the road?

I feel compelled to add that I used to feel this way.

As time has passed during our immigration journey, and I've read stories of difficult cases, my position has changed to a more cautious one.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

We were going to use a lawyer, got his fee...came back here, consulted with VJ'ers....never went back to attorney. Great source of info and lots of knowledge on this forum.

If you can speak and read English well, and can follow basic directions on Forms -- DO NOT GET A LAWYER

The forum is immensely helpful with tips, insights, and all the information I would ever need.

Secondly, Lawyers can not guarantee anything in terms of how fast, accurately and promise you a K1 visa. That's a fact.

Only your due diligence and your willing to do it correctly will ensure a fast and prompt K1 approval.

Good luck

almost all of us.

I have had NO Rfes through the Removal of Conditions and now we are filing for citizenship. No questions asked at the visa interview, none asked at the AOS and no interview at all for the RoC...for my wife and two sons!

Never ever felt a need for an attorney. Cannot even imagine what one would do.

VJ rocks!
