Irishman looking for right visa

If you want to get a work visa I'd suggest looking into Irish bars. My husband works at one, and there are people there on H1-Bs. I have no idea how they got visas for just working in a bar, but the Irish seem to know how to get it done.

The problem then is that you have to stay with that company unless you can find another place to sponsor you, or until you get married and adjust status based on that.

As for places where employment prospects are good, the Washington D.C. area is still strong. And we have a ton of Irish bars here.

I can not work out if you are serious or not.

But very funny either way.

I'm mayyyybe not 100% serious about trying to get a H1B visa to work at a bar....but I'm serious that one or two people at my husband's bar have them, and they certainly have no unique skills or job responsibilities. I can only assume the owner/manager trumped up the job description to make it super specific in order to hire the Irish people he wanted. The Irish take care of their own.

I'm the USC petitioner.

not just yet. so would a H-2b be more appropriate or are the issues as impossible to overcome?

Maybe someone already poited this put, but from what you are describing, you don't qualify for a H1B. Those are for "speciality occupations" i.e. very specific skills.

I used to live in a small town where the main business was a stone quarry, there was an article about it in the local paper saying how they were here on H Visa's.

Now assuming they meant H2's the quarry would have take pro rata about half of the State of Colorado's allocation. And there was me thinking they mainly went to the ski area's.

It would seem the Mexicans look after their own as well

Please point out the law that says a VWP visitor cannot look for a job? Looking for a job is not the same as working.

I'll stand corrected on this one.

It's OK to make connections and sit down with an employer for a chat. However, signing anything at all can make one a de-facto employee.

My apologies. I had my head around something else.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

The Shagalicous Visa.

A figment of many peoples imagination.

I really think this H1B certification process is such a scam. It seems to be a known secret that the employer just writes a letter tailored to the person to "prove" there is no one else for the job. "I, Mrs. Employer, require someone with the name Foreign-Guy Jones whose backside is exactly 15 inches wide to serve beer with an Irish accent and massage my feet every third Tuesday with hands exactly 4 inches wide." If I were more politically inclined I might try to get someone to change that gaping fraud-producer.

AOS for my husband
