We got a text message that they received our application on Feb 22. We never got anything in the mail though. Anyone else have this problem. Is it something to worry about?

I had my biometrics appointment today in Charlotte, NC. We wanted to try a walk in last week, but we could not get off work.(I say "we" because my husband wanted to come with me!)The appointment was at 11 AM. We got there at 10.15. The guard, a very nice lady, checked the appointment letter and my driver license and, when she said "the names don't match" (I filled in the AOS papers with my husband's name, my DC has my maiden name), I took out the marriage certificate out and gave it to her. She smiled and said, "You knew that was coming, didn't you?". Then, she gave us a clipboard, a pencil, and a "Applicant Information Worksheet" to fill out. Just the top part of it, actually. The sheet was asking for my name(put my new name), my birth date, my address, my alien number (or my SSN if you don't have it), and the receipt number. There were two lines for two receipts numbers. Since the biometrics were for I-485 and I-765, I figured these are the two numbers they need. Luckily, I brought all NOAs with me, so I was able to fill them in. After I finished filling in, I gave the sheet, my driver license and my appointment letter to the receptionist. She stamped my appointment letter, wrote I-485 an I-765 on the applicant information worksheet and gave them back to me together with a waiting number. Bu now, it was 10.35. There were 15 person in front of me, but the three ladies taking the fingerprints were moving pretty fast. They called my number at 11.00 sharp. First, they put the information from the sheet into the computer. Then, they took my fingerprints and my picture and I was done! We left the office at 11.10. All in all, a nice and pleasant experience. I hope the interview will be the same!

Thank you VJ for the support and advice!

hi! I also did my biometrics today at around 10:15am as early walk-in in Gardena,CA. no questions asked on the date since I'm scheduled on 03/29. the security guy asked for my ID and when I handed my passport, he said he needs the marriage certificate too since the names dont match. unfortunately, I didnt have it with me so we had to go back home and get it. good thing we dont live far from the ASC. :D

when I came back, he led me to a woman who filled out and stamped the form for the name change then back to the security guy and filled out the rest of the form for me.:D he was so friendly and joked around with me and my hubby. then another guy assisted me for the fingerprints and picture. he was also very friendly and we were conversing while doing the whole process.

over all the process was fast. no line. staff very helpful.

now comes the wait...

till my next update. good luck to everyone and hope to see good news from any feb filer soon on getting their EAD/AP or green card? hahaha... that's reaching! but keeping my fingers crossed that this will be a speedy process.:D

thanks for the updates and encouragement guys!

What do you mean? What did they ask for?

We forgot to send W2s for the taxes, a birth certificate of the co-sponsor and the co-sponsor filled out an old form from 2006 instead of the current one. Nothing terrible.

Does anybody know if the RFE for AOS will also put a halt on the EAD?

From everything I've read, yes, it puts a halt on everything, but it usually doesn't take long for them to resume processing once you send in what they want. :)

Hey Kids -

Went for bio-metrics today! Yeah one more thing out of the way. They were super friendly in Maine. She did have an issue taking my prints...what an ordeal! She asked me if I also filed for an ead and an a/p...I said yes and she said ok then I'll do it for all of them. She then stated that if she didnt, I would have to go back and have it done for each process...hmmm. So make sure you let them know what you filed for specificlly.

Hi, everyone,

I feel worried about my mistake in my I 485, on the part 3, the question was "were you inspected by the immigration officer?" because i am F1 student Visa, so it was supposed to be "yes". But I chose "no". And also I provided the information about my visa number and the copy of the I-94 form. When I reviewed my I 485 form today, I realized I made so big mistake. Is it a big problem? Is there any way to correct it? By the way, I just finished my finger print last week.

Many thanks for any reply!!

It took her quite awhile to do my prints..at least 20-25 minutes...She cldn't get them 'clear' and complete enough...Apparently my prints go all the way to my nails and she kept rolling them!!!

When she asked what all i filed for, and i told her; a/p, ead, and a.o.s., it was then that she told me that she needed to know which forms to fill out with bi-metrics. If she didn't fill out the form for say...a/p., I would have to go back and have it done

I just stumbled on this when I opened VJ today. I wonder if some of us will be getting the new "combo" card:

Feb. 18th 2011

WASHINGTON—U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) today announced that it is now issuing employment and travel authorization on a single card for certain applicants filing an Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, Form I-485. This new card represents a significant improvement from the current practice of issuing paper Advance Parole documents.

The card looks similar to the current Employment Authorization Document (EAD) but will include text that reads, “Serves as I-512 Advance Parole.” A card with this text will serve as both an employment authorization and Advance Parole document. The new card is also more secure and more durable than the current paper Advance Parole document.
