Hi everyone,

I am happy to inform you all, that we got our NOA2 approved on Jan 5th after 163 days of receiving our NOA-1. So all of you who've been waiting, just be patient. It should be coming anytime.

I am from India, and my fiance is an American Citizen. Being a full time student, she doesn't make enough so we have her mom, who is helping us in getting together being a co-sponsor. I need to know how this works, what all documents do I need from her, that I should take with me at the interview. At the same time, what questions should I be expecting at the interview related to having a co-sponser.

All your inputs will be highly appreciated.

Good Luck

CONGRATS and Goodluck!!! :)

My fiance's dad was a co-sponsor (although they did not consider our co-sponsor forms) and he used the i-134 as well and sent the same documents as my fiance.. tax returns etc.

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

Congrats!!!

Your fiance needs to send you form I-134 with all the supporting documentation (tax records, pay stubs, bank account information, letter from employer, etc). I believe the co-sponsor fills out this form also. Here is a VJ link with some info...http://www.visajourney.com/content/support

I have been to your country and it is beautiful! Good luck the rest of your journey.

Must admit, you got a beautiful wedding website. It is motivating me to have one now :P

So if they didn't consider your co-sponsor form, I assume your fiance was making enough to be able to support you. Is that correct ?

A quick question on top of this... are there any 'rules', as such, surrounding the co-sponsor?

For example, can the co-sponsor live in a different state..? Or do they need to be in the same state?

Can more than one co-sponsor be used? (e.g. if one will provide 'housing' but doesn't meet the income requirements; and another be used for income purposes)

Thanks,

KK

Then start by reading the instruction for the I-134 form and the pinned topic in the Embassy and Consulate forum. No need for spoon feeding here. Do your homework.

Congrats! Don't pay attention to some of the rude people who apparently log in just to bully others.

I'm not doing K-1 but I'm sure this website does have plenty of guides to help you through. You just have to take the time to look for them (especially if you are new to the site).

Good luck with the rest of your journey.

just an observation . . . there is no need to make condescending comments when offering advice. A simple 'if you haven't done so yet, read the instructions in the I-134 form, which are also pinned at the top of the Embassy and Consulate forum. You will find all of the answers you need there' is sufficient.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
